I think Q can appear as old or young as he wants to. Time has no meaning for the Continuum. Frankly, if they saw reason to borrow from Squire of Gothos for a future film, they could totally use DeLancie either as Trelane or Trelane’s father. Whether or not he actually show’s up on screen would be up to him and the producers.

I would love to see Q in a star trek movie….even the new ones. His son from voyager and a shadow of the tng Q would be nice with the original john d lancie….hey nero already messed up the space time continium….why cant Q have a look see….lol

no Q. John cant play Q anymore.. its so sad.. i wish i can turn back time to ideal perfect Q.. f.. he never come back… when i look at teh St.TNg and others and i see Q.. i think the time is very bad thing. John was perfect for this character. Perfect act and look, and no one can replace him as Q. I dont want other Q.

… wish to move myself back in time and meet John-Q in 87…

so no Q.

as any fan of the star trek universe should know, all members of the Q continuum are know as Q. We have seen young ones (Q’s Son) , Female ones (Q’s Mate and q’s Mother), old ones that want to die (Quinn) and Many other’s.

The point I am making is that Q could be played by any actor what so ever, the defining attitude is his / there interest and nature towards lower life forms, especially humans.

This means that although John De’lancie would make perfect sense, he could simply cameo in any starttrek movie concerning the Q to simply explain things to the new generation of star trek movie watchers who may not understand who the Q are all about.

Okay, so we’ve accepted that a prequel to the actual Star Trek series can be pulled off with new actors and be acceptable. There were not lots of the original episodes that made reference to previous aired ones, although the books and novels that followed (and the Great Motion Pictures) did reference previous villains/characters…..That being said, I’d love to see Kirk being challenged by an early version of Q, who, incidentially, doesn’t actually need to be a being in human form that the great DeLancie provided, but a character with the attitude that Q portrayed, but involved with the “new” Kirk and crew.

I think JJ can do wonders with this idea, and we’d all love to see a “Q” like character (maybe “P”?). Q seems to be a cumulation of a universal presence. Testing the human spirit starting with the new Kirk crew would be a great concept. Then again, I’ve always seen Q as a version of the Devil, seeing if he can cause man to question his faiths and beliefs.

I look forward to seeing “Q” or a version of him in some future movie!

de Lancie has been quite the trooper. The Trek games put out in the 90’s had de Lancie reprising his role as Q (Star Trek: The Game Show “Synapses, we hardly knew you!” or Borg (’I'm sorry… he’s just too stupid to live.”) were quite a hoot. Especially his acting in Borg.

Who says Q has to age? Have you seen the new Tron Legacy trailer? If the money’s behind the special effects, Mr. de Lancie can appear any age required by the script. Any age at all. So now that’s not an issue, would you please reconsider, Mr. de Lancie?

I love the Q character, one of my favorite but he belongs to the TNG era as he also dabbled in DS9 and VOY. That character does not belong in the new movies, lets explore something new.

Q on the big screen is great. A new actor or John de Lancie or how ever they would make it. I just do not understand why they have not used it in the next gen movies?
