KHAAAN!!!!!

Sounds like some interesting stuff!?

Gah- creepy eels!

The transporter effect in that one panel looks too “Next Generation-type”…

Page 2 of the 5-page preview (3 panels down): that is what it would look like if you could get a de-aged shatner and chris pine in the same scene together LOL (notice how the redshirt looks a lot like chris pine LOL)

Nice artwork.
Vultan likes!

Yes, the transporter effect may be a little suspicious, but shouldn’t we give them kudos for giving a nod to the animated series with those Orion helmets? And what about that Gorn medical illo from ye olde Starfleet Medical Reference Manual? Stepping into the Wayback Machine, kids . . .

Love the artwork for the environments in the preview — wonderful lighting effects.

I really want to buy the Khan-comic book series.

Amazing artwork for the Enterprise. I like it!

Italian artists are very good at Star Trek. Federica Manfredi and David Messina rule.

^ also: Fabio Mantovani.

yeah, the big E renderings look great, and accurate. Very nice…the original E is still the best!

来看你了。。。最近好吗。

I like the artwork for BOK. Clean and great likenesses.

can’t wait for Khan…

非常好。你好吗?

I like it so far, but what throws me is that the kid’s hair is very ’90s/’00s. They should’ve gone with a ’60s look for it.

I see your point, but I think that this chronological contrast gives a fresh look to the iconic 60s atmosphere, bringing TOS out of the nostalgia effect.

Ah Trek comics, where Kirk still never looks like Kirk.

But that Enterprise on the TPB cover is SMOKIN! :) I miss the phasers being purple, though.

Yeah, it seems to me the model for the TPB looks Tall and familiar. Beautiful work.

Hey Tallguy, that Enterprise is cool huh? Is it as cool as the one we used in STOGAM???

Looking forward to both these new comics

I wouldn’t call tracing over or rendering out toon mats on a 3d model you found on the internet skill.

23 – It’s as cool as one of them, yeah! :D

24 – whatever the process; it is the result that counts. (some people can’t even trace!)

The new Khan comic is a rip-off insult to Greg Cox who created the great Khan novels, including the one that tells this story, entitled, “To Reign in Hell.” It is quite a wonder to me that they didn’t even pretend that they were not plagiarizing his efforts — sheesh the comic is called “Ruling in Hell”…come on, that is a ridiculous theft of Cox’s story concept.

#27

How close is the actual plot of the comic to Cox’s story? Anyone know? I thoroughly enjoyed his Khan novels (despite the heavy amount of fanservice) and I was wondering the same thing as you when I saw this comic announced.

#28–Greg Cox noted in another thread that to the best of his knowledge, this comic book series was not related to his work. He did not seem upset or concerned about the comic book series. I think that is because the comics and the novels have always operated independantly of one another.

I too liked Cox’s books, especially his To Reign in Hell. I was unable to put that book down. His book did a great job linking Space Seed to TWOK and answered every question I could possible think of (how he knew Chekov, the Starfleet Medallion he wears, the gloved hand, etc).

#28 — Well that makes me feel a little better about this — thanks for this info. It is too bad though that they couldn’t have found a way to make the comic book based on his novel though and included him in the project.

I meant #29.

to make the comic book based on his novel though and included him in the project.
