The NBC spy series Chuck has has a few Star Trek reference and guest cameos over the years, with another coming last night, in the form of a Vulcan nerve pinch ‘learned from Star Trek’. Check it out below.
Chuck learns pinch from Star Trek
In the episode "Chuck Versus the Fear of Death", Chuck is working with agent Rye (Rob Riggle), who shows Chuck a technique on taking down bad guys that should be familiar to Star Trek fans. [Via Hulu – USA only, sorry]
Yes, that was interesting to watch. I was waiting for the music “stinger” to emphasize the pinch action (but the music never came). :)

Okay, I googled it on youtube but it’s not there yet. (Guess I should have known that trekmovie.com would have supplied that info if it existed.) Any generous computer geniuses want to load it up for us? I don’t watch the show but love Trek so am curious…

Tom Cruise used the Vulcan Never Pinch on Cameron Diaz in this year’s movie “Knight and Day.” (See E review reference) With all these pop culture references to Star Trek, why isn’t there more Star Trek as in television series? I’m sure the masses get the nerve pinch joke. That means there are a lot of Trekkers out there. What about a CGI animated feature Paramount to hold us over till 2012?

i dont watch ‘Chuck’ myself, so i have no opinion but as long as shows do well at all levels, hey, watch the show, ‘mates’.

I can’t see the video. So was it a good Vulcan nerve pinch?
It was given from the front – no “nerve pinch” sound effect.
The bad guy just drops. The agent jokes about learning
how to do it from Trek, then recants and says he learned
it in Bangladesh… The agent & Chuck then agree that
Trek was a good show and they move on.
It was okay.
CHUCK has one great guest star after another this season, and they’ve been given the go for another full season.
Ratings are up.
Bak rocked as Orion/Steve Bartowski, and Linda Hamilton’s last ep was her strongest yet as Chuck & Ellie’s mom. I’m back to edge of my seat with this latest plot twist…
The show is slick, written very tightly, and funny as heck. The music is wonderful.

Yes, Chuck can very funny at times. Good entertainment. Yes, I did notice Robert Duncan McNeill as supervising producer, sometimes director. Scott Bakula plays Chuck’s father.
One of its producers is McG (oh no, not him, you say). Of course, he is also the director of This Means War, the latest film that Chris Pine is working on. That movie is a rom-com, with Chris Pine and Tom Hardy playing secret agents.
I see a pattern here…:)

It was good having Firefly’s Adam Baldwin and Summer Glau together again on Chuck.
Chuck is a great fun spy show. Realism be damned, it’s called FUN.

This came the same night that “Castle” had another Firefly reference (Castle spoke Chinese he learned “from a TV I used to love.”
