In January Star Trek: The Exhibition, the traveling exhibit of Star Trek props and replicas, heads east to the Louisville Science Center in Kentucky. Tickets went on sale today, more details and links below.

Tickets now on sale for Star Trek: The Exhibition
Louisville, Ky. (December 1, 2010) – Tickets go on sale today for Star Trek: The Exhibition, locally presented by AT&T. The exhibition features sets, costumes, priceless museum pieces and props from all five Star Trek television series and 11 Star Trek feature films, including the newest blockbuster film. The exhibition opens January 23, 2011.
Visitors can sit in Captain Kirk’s chair from the Enterprise, featured in Star Trek: The Original Series. The object-based exhibition is divided into topic galleries emphasizing themes of science that the creators of Star Trek explored on screen. Themes include:
- Exploration, presenting a timeline of the Star Trek story, and including original models, costumes and props.
- Health Innovation, featuring a reproduced Starfleet medical center from Star Trek: The Next Generation, with patient beds, medical equipment, props and costumes used by actors on the shows. Authentic objects from Star Trek on display include Crusher’s Costume (from Star Trek: The Next Generation), Tri-Corder (used to scout unfamiliar areas and record technical data) and HypoSpray (Star Trek’s fictional version of today’s jet injector, a medical injecting syringe using a high-pressure narrow jet of injection liquid instead of a hypodermic needle to reduce the pain).
- Communication, featuring a reproduction of the Transporter Room that can be explored and stood upon.
Actual objects from Star Trek include the Communicator, a hand-held communication device and later
the Cornbadge; the Earpiece often used on the bridge; and costumes. - Space Travel, featuring actual set pieces from Star Trek: The Next Generation and authentic Star Trek
artifacts including costumes and Federation, Vulcan and Klingon ship models.

I only live 4 hours away, so I’m definitely checking this out.
Wow. It’s left California. Finally. Al sarcasm aside, I attended opening day in San Diego back in 2008 when I happen to be on vacation in southern California and it was great. My sons and I met and talked with the Okudas for about 20 minutes – wonderful people with a true love of all things Trek. But there has been talk all along of it travelling across the country. Let’s hope this is the beginning of that trek so others may enjoy it, too. Lloking forward to it arriving in Chicago, but I may grab the boys and take them on a road trip to Kentucky…

I had a blast at the Detroit one in ’09, and it didn’t have the Sickbay. (We had Picard’s quarters.)
If I had it to do over again, though, I’d go alone. I wanted to spend a whole lot more time looking than my companions.

This is only 90 minutes from me! We (my fiancee and I )don’t even have to leave Kentucky to see it. Looking forward to this. If there is enough time, maybe we can go to the JB Speed Art Museum while we’re there.

This should be awesome as it is only 2 hours from me. In answer to 11 the jb speed art museum is worth it too I would recomend making a weekend of it sometime. Too much to take in all in one day me and my hubby tried to do the jb speed art museum, louisville slugger museum, muhammad ali center and museum all in 1 day and were exhausted. We should have stayed with my friend for the weekend and divided it up a bit. As for the exhibition I have been looking for it for some time to be near me and will be happy as a tribble to go.

The reason you have not heard anything new about the Star Trek: Experience re-opening is there is NOTHING new to report. According to Mr. John Van Citters of CBS VP Star Trek Licencing “it is still in development” CBS Is still 100% committed to bringing it back to Las Vegas when the economy recovers here. I asked him this exact question back in August when he was here for our annual Las Vegas Star Trek Convention.
As Captain of the USS Las Vegas I keep my hailing frequencies open for any news or buzz regarding the new Experience. Sadly, there is just nothing new to report. As Las Vegas’s economy is one of the worst in the USA, I would bet we will not see anything new on the Experience front for several more years at least. Just my personal opinion mind you.
Whoever did the taxidermy job on Neelix did a pretty fair job.

I took the family to see the Exhibit in Detroit and it was a joy to see my youngest son (who has diabetes) get so excited at the chance to sit in Captain Kirk’s chair on the Enterprise bridge!
My only disappointment is not being able to take my own photographs (we were allowed a few years back when Star Trek Federation Science made the rounds with several artifacts from the shows). And if we wanted pictures we had to pay some rank amateurs (employees or volunteers from the museum) to take pictures at astronomical prices–must have been Ferengis! :)
I went to the Web site for the Exhibit also and it doesn’t appear to have much info added since 2009 except for where it has been and what is current in the United States–didn’t even beat TrekMovie to the punch in announcing the Louisville exhibition! CBS just doesn’t seem to be putting a lot of effort into communicating about any of its Trek holdings these days–even StarTrek.com has been rather lackluster since the layoffs. Thanks, TrekMovie for keeping the data stream flowing!!

We’re exploring some hotel packages, so we’ll keep you all posted when we get that info. Our exhibit is completely customized for our venue, so this experience will be different than any other Trek exhibit you’ve seen! Not sure how Kentucky qualifies geographically. Its not usually considered midwest, but it is right on the Ohio River and right across from Indiana which IS a midwestern state. Louisville is a 2 hour drive from Indianapolis, Nashville, TN and Cincinnati, OH. Probably 3-4 hours from St Louis.
And yes, Shat hangs out in Lexington which is about an hour east of Louisville.
Yeah this is the one i’ve been looking forward to, taking my vacation that week and heading over there!
I hope this comes to Dallas.

Kentucky is usually considered to be a part of the Southeast. Indiana, on the other hand, is in the midwest.
I live on the “Sunny Side” of Louisville (IN) and am only a few miles from the Science Center. I look forward to a very short drive to visit.
Just talked to my daughter and she lives 25 min. from Riverside… I will be out there till Jan…Can’t wait…This is a dream come true….wish I would have kept my old autographed pix of the Star Trek TOS crew….I may have to go back another day to finish it….Taking grandkiddies with us, and you know how tiring and grumpy they can get when they are tired….
