Image of the Day: Star Trek/Doctor Who Mashup Kirk and Doctor Take On Klingons & Daleks

Today there is an image going viral on the web that envisions a sci-fi mashup between Doctor Who and Star Trek with Kirk, Spock, The Doctor and his companion Amy Pond taking on an evil coalition of Daleks, Cybermen, Klingons and Romulans. Check it out below.

TOS crew vs. movie Klingons/movie BoP?? Terrible! Why can’t so-called “artists” do their research??

Nice picture!

Nice artwork but the Enterprise and Romulan Bird of Prey are way out of scale. Not to nitpick, I wish I could draw as good as this fan can.
As for the TOS crew and movie Klingons, time travel could be involved since the TOS Enterprise was time traveling in the 1960’s just after The Doctor got started (on TV).

Gure, Why did you not mention the TNG Era D’Derix class romulan warbird there too… VERY out of place…

Damn it Jim, I’m a doctor, not The Doctor!!

#5. Good One. Even though there are some Mistakes. It still is a pretty god Pic. Just let the Imagination go and enjoy it. But. I would not mind reading a comic on this. Why not. Zombies have invaded Star Trek. There is even a Novel with the X Men on TNG. Worf and Wolvering became friends in that Novel. Why Not Jim Kirk and Spock and Dr. MCcoy become friends with Dr. Who.

Perhaps the inconsistencies are part of the story???

Daleks, Cyberman, Romulans and Klingon’s from the future??

Sounds like a Star Trek/Doctor Who crossover storyline to me.

How long until Kirk nails Amy? Tall, red hair, short skirt? She doesn’t stand a chance.

Well the people behind Star Trek: Enterprise WERE planning a crossover with Doctor Who had it gone into a 5th Season…

Why does it matter what Klingons/Romulans/Birds of Prey are used if the TARDIS is involved? As far as time travel, Kirk and crew managed to use time travel when it suited them.

Amen. This pic is awesome, but leave it to Trek fans to take something this cool and focus in on what’s “wrong” with it.

It is a collage type of poster like you see in movie posters. Not supposed to be absolutely correct. As for the story it should be catchy and creative. this type of mashup could be great if done right. sort of a touch of “assignment Earth”

This is awesome artwork, my favs together.

As an artist, I would have to chime in and say the “inconsistencies” of sizes of the ships may have been artistic license. Had you had the Romulan warbird at the actual size, it would have thrown out the flow of the picture, making it uneven and blocking a portion of the moons in the upper right corner. Art is all about balance and lines and flow and the way the drawing was created has a good flow irregardless of whether the ships are the correct sizes or not.

Beautiful line & color work, shadowing/shading and highlights. So much texture but not too much to make it overwhelming. Top notch work and, if I may say so, much better than some of the work being used in recent Star Trek comic books.

I can’t wait to see this comic book! :-)

@5 Ian Fee – Hilarious!

Who cares!? It’s just a TV show!

#9 – No, it was the other way around. The Doctor Who producers were trying to get the Enterprise people to do a crossover.

From Memory Alpha – “In a 2009 interview, Welsh writer/producer Russell T Davies, showrunner of the British series Doctor Who, said that he had considered proposing a crossover between Doctor Who and Star Trek, but that the latter was canceled before the idea could be pursued.”

YAY two best sci-fi fandoms of all time i would love to see a comic book or anything of the two

I heard about that. I understand it was an idea of Russell Davis. I just wonder if Paramount or CBS or whoever owns Star Trek now (I am just so confused about that) would have agreed to it.

What is wrong with these ungrateful artist creating an image? Am I right? Why cant they spend their time wasting it on useless research. Its impossible that spaceships and aliens of fiction could exist together. My world is on fire right now… I think I may commit suicide. A BoP and Warbird, Out of their timeline and OUT OF SCALE!? Good-bye cruel world! Thank-God we all have our virginity!?

My God… it’s full of win….

Great poster! And why bother even nitpicking? This poster was made for FUN!

The only thing that would have been required to fix the “size inconsistency” of the Romular Warbird would have been to have the Enterprise firing on it from the TOP side of its saucer, creating the impression of the Warbird being further away in the background. The angle of the phaser beam places the Warbird closer to us than the Enterprise, which is why it’s smaller size in the drawing looks out of scale.

My god what is wrong with you people nit picking a piece of artwork – get out more, experience the world – you’ll find Star Trek toys next to Doctor Who toys SHOCKING!!!! No wonder Star Trek has such a stigma attached to it.

Awesome Poster. I heard about the Doctor Who/Star Trek cross over, would have been pretty cool – I’m assuming they’d have either done it like DS9’s Trials and Tribilations or used the Star Trek: Enterprise crew?

Ahhhh… Mike Mayhew’s pencils are gorgeous.
Better mention that in the article. :)

25. Russell T. Davies (former showrunner of Doctor Who) toyed with the idea around 2005 or 06. You would probably have had Christopher Eccleston (who rumour has it is a Trekkie) turning up on the Enterprise NX-01. Of course, Star Trek had been cancelled before the deal could be worked out.

I like these Daleks better than their recent fugly redesign actually.

Instead of including the Series 5 ones, he’s basically done the solid looking Time War kind, in different colours.

Where’s Rory?

Big fan of both shows but this one doesn’t work for me.

What, no comment on the fact that Kirk is holding a phaser rifle? We all know those didn’t appear in the series after “Where No Man Has Gone Before”, so obviously he’s wearing the wrong tunic!! It should have a gold collar! Holy crap, this image is so messed up…. LOL!!!

This artwork (which is full of win by the way) should make a slight change in Voltaire’s “The USS Make S**t Up”:

“The Daleks and the Cybermen pose no threat to us…”

Cool! Big fan of both these shows.

That is pure AWESOME!!! It truly is one of the most ULTIMATE pictures I have ever seen!!!! =D

#17 – Agreed, absolutely.

I seemed to be aware about this previously, nevertheless there were several useful pieces that finalized the image for me personally, appreciate it!
