Zoe Saldana & Clifton Collins Win SF Fest Midnight Awards + Zoe Feeds Homeless For Easter [Photos]

Last night Star Trek’s new Uhura Zoe Saldana received the Midnight Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival, along with her Star Trek co-star Clifton Collins, Jr. We have details and photos below, plus photos of Zoe giving out food to the homeless for Easter.

Saldana and Collins win Midnight Award at San Francisco Film Fest

On Saturday night Star Trek’s Zoe Saldana was the the 54th San Francisco International Film Festival to be honored at the fourth Midnight Awards, held at the W San Francisco. Saldana’s co-honoree also hapenned to be her Star Trek co-star Clifton Collins, Jr. (Ayel).

According to a report at Examiner.com, Saldana spoke at length, including about her upcoming film with Luc Besson, Colombiana:

"I think that coming from New York — I’m from Queens, New York — in my mind I have this notion that I’m this badass. So I sort of gravitate naturally toward these roles that resemble women that I’ve known in my mind or throughout history who I’ve admired. I remember growing up as a kid I was never the damsel-in-distress for Halloween. I was never a princess. I was never Juliet. I was Ellen Ripley or Sarah Connor. I was either a black Ninja or a white Ninja."

Zoe helps the homeless for Easter

It wasn’t all award shows and festivals for Zoe, the actress also devoted part of her weekend to giving back. Zoe Saldana served food at the Los Angeles Mission Easter For The Homeless event held at the Los Angeles Mission on April 22, 2011. Here are a couple of photos from the event.

Very cool!

Excellent! Nice to see her get recognized for her work, and to see her helping the community. A great role model for others.

Carry on young miss! Hope to see you on screen again soon.

God bless,
Don

Looks like they are serving food to each other in the pictures.

good 4 her!!!

I don’t see any homeless being served. Bloody Fake.:D LOL

Zoe’s a capable enough actress but I have to say the amount of awards she’s received over the past couple of years seems out of proportion to her body of work so far. Can’t help wonder if it’s as much to do with what an appearance by her brings to an event publicity-wise and of course her hotness…

Didn’t know she was a southpaw…cool! Us lefties gotta stick together!

Yes, Zoe! … she was looking great … I’m waiting for Uhura … hope she “rocks” again!

hmmmm … and it seems that nobody asked anything about Star Trek 2012 for her… shame! …lol … anyway she probably “knows nothing”, too! +LOL

:-) :-)

Zoe looks great! It’s good to see her doing good. I look forward to seeing her as Uhura again! Beautiful lady.

Zoe is setting a very good example for all…. everyone should participate in helping those less fortunate. Also good for her and Clifton for their awards~

Congrats to Zoe! Also this is such a beautiful way to spend Easters. Thank you so much.

Interesting that we don’t see any homeless being served. Of course, with a beautiful woman like that, ya don’t wanna take any chances!

Did I miss something? I don’t see any indication of what the W Midnight Award is about. Why did they win it?

she looks like Cruella Deville in some of these pics! LOL!

What in the world is a “Midnight Award”?

So… the whole point of this post was to tell us that….
… some people “Won SF Fest Midnight Awards” for some reason, for something … not specified

Saldana took food out of a container and put it on plates

I’m sure all of the homeless who wouldn’t have known how to do that themselves are grateful.

“@16. gingerly – April 26, 2011”

Forcing a reader to google to fill in missing information means poor journalism.

I love Zoe and I think she’s a wonderful actress and is stunningly beautiful, and I’m glad to read this acticle. So there.

I guess one of the reasons we don’t see the homeless/poor people is to protect their identities and allow them some privacy. It is possible that lots of actors and other well-known Hollywood celebrities may give up their time and energy for causes such as this, but we don’t hear or see many of them very often doing these things. It is sad, though, in a place with such tremendous wealth, that there are homeless people around as well. Just don’t get it.

# 19 – Keachick, hi… it seems that wasn’t only Zoe who did social work in this past weekend… CP also did… I put a post on IMDb about it… Captain Fine is with a beard now … I found a picture … I do not understand why other sites do not have it … so here

http://talentedtongueofchrispine.tumblr.com/

Dee – I see no recent picture of Chris Pine in either of the links you have posted. I am not surprised, though, that when Chris is not filming, he seems not to shave that often. A beard tends to be the result of this omission. I wonder if it has something to do with all the skin problems he has had and too much shaving perhaps causes acne problems to occur.

Dee – Problem solved. I see the picture now. Nice tidy beard actually. Lovely Pine smile – always melts me… He has cut his hair, needs to grow a little again, I think. Thank you.

Spock is one lucky Vulcan. Glad to hear she spent a part of her weekend participating in such a worthwhile endeavor.

Zoe always looks so fresh and happy. I imagine she must be a very upbeat person.

@17: Oh, Iva you adorable killjoy you. Hey, remember that time you insinuated Zoe put out in exchange for screentime? Stay classy, babe!

I didn’t “insinuate” anything – I outright said it & stand by my words.
(Thank you, I will:)
