Back in the 90s Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy and Next Gen’s John de Lancie released a series of "Alien Voices" audio dramas of classic sci-fi stories with casts that included a number of other Star Trek stars. These Alien Voices audio dramas have been re-released as digital downloads, details below.

Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie re-release Alien Voices audio dramas
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 11, 2011) – Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie announced today they are re-releasing all five of their original Alien Voices® Audio Dramas as digital downloads. These previously out-of-print titles include "The First Men In The Moon", "Journey To The Center Of The Earth", "The Invisible Man", "The Lost World" and "The Time Machine".
These fully dramatized performances star Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie – along with cast members from Star Trek® feature films and TV series including Roxann Dawson (Star Trek: Voyager), Robert Ellenstein (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home), Marnie Mosiman (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Andrew Robinson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Armin Shimerman (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager), Dwight Schultz (Star Trek: The Next Generation and Voyager), Ethan Phillips (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise), Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager) and a special guest appearance by William Shatner.

ABOUT ALIEN VOICES
ALIEN VOICES was formed in 1996 by actors Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie to create multi-media works of science fiction and fantasy. ALIEN VOICES grew out of a long-held desire to present thoughtful and provocative works of science fiction.

I loved these! Their production of “The Time Machine” was really good; and it actually included the rest of the Traveler’s voyage (to the end of the earth itself); something no movie version has ever done.
I actually had the chance to tell John deLancie how much I enjoyed the Alien Voices plays when I met him at a trade show earlier this year. I only wish they’d do more of them (so many wonderful classics to be adapted…).
Very cool, I hope the two Spock vs. Q cd’s get this treatment as well.

I really enjoy Alien Voices; it was wonderful way to bring classic stories to life in a different way. Even though the classics are nice, I’ve gotta say Spock vs Q (and sequel) was always my favorite(s)! But I’m sure I’m pretty bias on that… :)
Would love to have Spock VS Q. They were great together.
I ripped mp3s of Spock VS Q years ago from my CDs… i am going to have to pick up at least a couple of these.
I had the pleasure of working with Leonard and John on the first Alien Voices Live show on Sci Fi Channel back in ’97. It was great and working with them (and our special guest voice William Shatner) was one of the highlights of my career. So glad they are offering these digitally now! Get them!

Great news! Was there ever any video of Spock vs Q? I always wanted to know more history of those plays!
I would love to see Spock Meets Q and the sequel be released digitally, although I have both on CD.
I was lucky enough to be in the audience for the recording of the sequel (and a performance of the original) in Kansas City.
In addition to THE FIRST MEN IN THE MOON and THE LOST WORLD, the SCI-FI channel also had a ALIEN VOICES production titled A HALLOWEEN TRILOGY. It featured performances of Rudyard Kipling’s THE MARK OF THE BEAST, Oscar Wilde’s THE CANTERVILLE GHOST, and Edgar Allan Poe’s THE CASK OF THE AMONTILLADO.
It would be great if the new website offered these as digital audio downloads as well.
What about their version of War of the Worlds?

Spock V. Q!! Both were great fun as were the classics AV did. I wish there were more audio novels for Trek as well. I have a few dozen on cassette. My favorites are the ones read by Frakes, DeLancie, and McFadden. I was hoping Frakes would be contracted to read the Titan series for audio.
If you are a TNG fan and you haven’t heard Q-Squared, Imzadi, Dark Mirror, The Devil’s Heart, Reunion, or Crossover, you are really missing out. I liked the movie Generations at first but that waned with each viewing due to its huge plot holes. The audio book is much better in that it includes Spock and Bones as well as Carol Marcus in the nexus. All Good Things on audio lacks the final poker game scene but is otherwise great, too. Relics on audio is read by Doohan with some help from Burton and is well worth your time and money.

Ha! Koinki-dinky! I am moving, and I just found a box of old books and tapes that included a double-cassette package from this series that I apparently paid $1.00 for somewhere, from the price tag on the box. I don’t recall which story it was — I’ve misplaced the box again already. I think it might be Wells’s “The Invisible Man.”

I still own the two “Spock VS Q” CDs and it`s a shame that I did not get them signed by John de Lancie back in 2008 when he was at German FedCon 17! I really regret that I did not bring them for signing with me!!!!

Does anyone know whether these are full length unabridged versus shortened productions?
#21 These are not unabridged, but rather audio adaptations of the authors’ original works, dramatised as radio dramas. All are scripted by Nat Segalof or Nat Segalof & John de Lancie.

I was lucky enough to see them perform Spock Vs Q at FedCon sometime in the late 90s. It wasn’t until Nimoy kept stating that he hadn’t played Spock in nearly 20 years when JJ-Trek was being produced that I realized, “Wait… I saw Leonard Nimoy actually be Spock on stage.”
The Radio Dramas are top notch. And I should know, because I am trying to write Radio Plays professionally.
