Some Star Trek vets will be appearing on a couple of sci-fi shows over the next few days. First up Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Nana Visitor and TNG’s John de Lancie will be on tonight’s Torchwood: Miracle Day. And on Monday Star Trek: Voyager’s Kate Mulgrew begins her arc on Warehouse 13. Watch previews below.
Visitor and de Lancie on Torchwood: Miracle Day
Tonight’s episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day ("End of the Road") features two Trek vets with DS9’s Kira Nana Visitor and Q himself John de Lancie.

Mulgrew starts her run on Warehouse 13, joined by Tahir
And on Monday Star Trek: Voyager’s Kate Mulgrew begins a 4-episode arc on Warehouse 13, where she plays one of the Warehouse 13 regent. She will be joined by Faran Tahir (Star Trek’s Capt. Robau), who reprises his role as Regent Kosan.
Synopsis:
A mystery organization launches an attack on the Warehouse Regents.

Well, it just so happens that I enjoy both Warehouse 13 and Torchwood (though I do have some issues with Miracle Day in terms of writing, but its still pretty solid) and I enjoyed all four of those actors in their roles on Star Trek so I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun with both episodes!

If anyones thinking of getting into Torchwood, be warned theres a lot of sex. (In this series, mostly gay sex, because although Jack used to be a 51st century omnisexual who was all about breaking down labels, this series has turned him into a stereotypical gay man). Still good, if over padded. It’s got the baddy computer guy from Jurassic Park as well.
Torchwood is abysmal…
I really am liking this show.
It’s the Angel to Dr Who’s Buffy (a more ‘adult’ alternative show set in the same universe). I got hooked after “Children of Men” (the incredible 5 part third season).
And while I think perhaps a bit too much time is devoted to Captain Jack’s ‘man-whore’ exploits, Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) just gets better and better every week (she has real bite as a character; making her a mother was a smart move… now she’s twice as dangerous).
The secondary characters haven’t really grown too much on me yet, but I like them well enough (previous seasons have taught me not to get too attached, though…).

Oops! When I wrote ‘liking this show’ I was in fact referring to Torchwood. I couldn’t care less for Warehouse 13; tried a few episodes, but it didn’t stick.
Nana Visitor actually appeared in last week’s episode. It was towards the end, but she was there. (And I was surprised. I thought I would have read about it here first.)
Torchwood has been truly truly terrible this year. It used to be a good honest British Sci Fi show, but clearly the BBC has run out of cash and sold out to the almighty Dollar. Russel T Davies has made some great shows in his time and this is by far and away the worst. It’s slow moving, un interesting, and poorly written.
Stopped watching after episode 3.
And I was really looking forward to seeing Winston from ghostbusters in this.
Kroll – you stopped watching too soon. The later episodes will blow your mind. The first 3 were just getting the story started and developing the characters. Russel T Davies has outdone himself!
The short chap with the glasses also appeared in Star Trek. Once when he was an antiquities thief who stole Data to be part of his collection.

Last time I watched Nana she was dying of Cancer on BSG, a powerful and moving performance, she got a little action in the last episode of TW and its good to see that there will be more of her in up coming episodes.

Is John de Lancie DE-AGING?
last time I seen photos of him he was as gray as Leonard Nimoy and looking nearly the same age YEAH YEAH…theres hair products, but the guy looks in the best shape I have seen in in nearly 20 years.
As for Torchwood series 4, yes the plot could have been trimmed and the pace tightened on the first 4 episodes but it is moving along with a good pace now, I still haven’t a clue what the point of Oswald Danes is but Bill Pullman gives a creepy yet lonely performance of a confused Hannibal Lecter character looking for direction.

Torchwood’s benchmark as far as I’m concerned. So far, “Miracle Day” has approached it in quality, but has not yet equalled it (let alone surpassed it).
I enjoy MD; but I loved COE. That was an event…
torchwod should go back to original formula, I watched the mid sereoies of Dr Who saturday night, and it was good.
de Lancie was *AMAZING* on Torchwood. Possibly the best character all season. Actually competent member of the intelligence community and master of put-downs.
