William Shatner to guest star on ABC’s Rookie Blue + Shatner’s version of Iron Man to be released September 13, 2011

by Rosario T. Calabria , Filed under: Shatner , trackback

Although his CBS sitcom $#*! My Dad Says was canceled in May, Star Trek’s William Shatner is staying busy. Shatner will guest star on the ABC series Rookie Blue. There’s also an update on his music career, with news that his version of Black Sabbath’s "Iron Man" will be released on his October album Seeking Major Tom (Cleopatra).

Although we all know William Shatner as Captain Kirk, he’s also well known for his role as T.J. Hooker and the actor will be returning to his cop roots for a guest starring turn on the ABC cop drama Rookie Blue. TV Line reports Shatner will play "a very drunk driver" in the season 3 premiere. Executive producer Tassie Cameron revealed that the role "starts comic and ends dramatic, so we’re hoping it gives him a chance to do what he does so well,” she adds. “He’s got such great range.”

Rookie Blue concluded its second season this past Thursday. Production on season 3 is currently underway in Toronto, Canada.

In other news, Revolver has reports that Shatner will relase his version of Black Sabbath’s "Iron Man" on his new double-album Seeking Major Tom (Cleopatra). Shatner worked with Black Label Society and former Ozzy Osbourne axman Zakk Wylde and Alice in CHains bassists Mike Inez earlier this year for the track.

Seeking Major Tom (Cleopatra) will be released on October 11, 2011.

10. Elliot - September 13, 2011

Can we please get an explanation as to why there have been virtually no new posts in the last three weeks?

11. Tanner Waterbury - September 13, 2011

Well, though it may be a bit out of line for me to say… ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME A NEW POST WAS MADE! As your loyal viewers of this webpage, we ask that SOME notice be given out next time a Hiatus were to happen.

12. Admiral Stedman - September 14, 2011

Why couldn’t Shatner have played TJ Hooker on the show? Stops by the station or is consulted in retirement about a case. Now that’s cool!

13. Jeffery Wright - September 14, 2011

I love classic Star Trek and I love classic Black Sabbath. Who would have thought they’d ever cross paths?

Win and win!

14. Tony Whitehead - September 14, 2011

I can’t wait for Shatner to remake “Barbary Coast.”

17. C Mosenko - September 14, 2011

I’ve seen his attempt at Rocketman, it was terrible. It’s nice to try new things, but some times w have to admit when we are not good at something. He needs to admit he is not good at something.

18. CmdrR - September 14, 2011

Listened to it.
Um… time to put on “Has Been” again. Very good collection, that.
