Although his CBS sitcom $#*! My Dad Says was canceled in May, Star Trek’s William Shatner is staying busy. Shatner will guest star on the ABC series Rookie Blue. There’s also an update on his music career, with news that his version of Black Sabbath’s "Iron Man" will be released on his October album Seeking Major Tom (Cleopatra).
Although we all know William Shatner as Captain Kirk, he’s also well known for his role as T.J. Hooker and the actor will be returning to his cop roots for a guest starring turn on the ABC cop drama Rookie Blue. TV Line reports Shatner will play "a very drunk driver" in the season 3 premiere. Executive producer Tassie Cameron revealed that the role "starts comic and ends dramatic, so we’re hoping it gives him a chance to do what he does so well,” she adds. “He’s got such great range.”
Rookie Blue concluded its second season this past Thursday. Production on season 3 is currently underway in Toronto, Canada.
In other news, Revolver has reports that Shatner will relase his version of Black Sabbath’s "Iron Man" on his new double-album Seeking Major Tom (Cleopatra). Shatner worked with Black Label Society and former Ozzy Osbourne axman Zakk Wylde and Alice in CHains bassists Mike Inez earlier this year for the track.
Seeking Major Tom (Cleopatra) will be released on October 11, 2011.
