Besides the 2013 Star Trek sequel, the other big thing going on these days is the Star Trek: The Next Generation Remastered project. Just in time for the 25th anniversary in 2012, CBS is bringing the show into the HD world. Star Trek sequel producer/director JJ Abrams has one last thing to get off his desk and that is the release of Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol on December 21st. Also returning for the fourth Mission is Star Trek’s new Scotty Simon Pegg, reprising his role as Benji the tech. Paramount has released a featurette and clip with Pegg. Earlier this week Rod Roddenberry’s documentary Trek Nation premiered on the Science Channel. The Star Trek-themed documentary was the result of many years of work and as you would expect there is a lot of footage that didn’t make it into the final cut for TV. Now the director of the documentary is putting up some of these deleted scenes and interviews on YouTube.
