Watch: Shatner Rejects Takei’s Call For Star Wars/Star Trek Truce January 9, 2012

by Staff , Filed under: Celebrity,Sci-Fi,Shatner,TOS,Viral Video/Mashup/Images , trackback

George Take recently tried to call for a peace in the ongoing Star Trek / Star Wars “feud”, but William Shatner is more interested in keeping it going. Watch Bill’s video reply to George below.

Shatner rejects Takei call for Star Trek/Star Wars truce

First came Shatner’s online video in which he took several shots at Star Wars. Those comments prompted a response by Carrie Fisher, which in turn resulted in another online video from Shatner. This lead to George Takei jumping in and calling for galactic peace.

But Bill is having none of that. In a new video responds posted today, Shatner said Takei is the actually "the greatest threat to equanimity and peacefulness" to to carrying on their feud. And Shatner demands "retribution":

1. Andy Patterson - January 9, 2012

Without even watching yet, I love Shatner still. ( I know Harry, that’s irritating.)

2. Andy Patterson - January 9, 2012

You have to admit he doesn’t look bad these days.

3. SPOCKBOY - January 9, 2012

Well I guess THIS is appropriate…

4. Greg2600 - January 9, 2012

Where the hell is he?

5. Simpleton - January 9, 2012

As much as I like George, he should of kept out of it. It’s s bit of fun between Mr Shatner and Ms fisher

6. Romulus - January 9, 2012

@ 4. Greg2600

Southern Nevada, he’s doing a docu on Area 51

7. The Unknown Poster - January 9, 2012

Hilarious. But he makes a good point (in an amusing way): who is GT to ask for peace when he’s been carrying on a stupid feud for decades. I can appreciate his desire to be funny but his involvement just seemed like trying to weasel in on some Internet “PR”.

Shat’s the man.

8. Paul Belfi - January 9, 2012

@7 Agree 101%

Love GT but c’mon man…

9. MJ - January 9, 2012

For once, I agree with Shat.

10. Jack - January 9, 2012

Wow. This is getting good. I see a mud wrestling match coming up.

11. N - January 9, 2012

Shatner looks so much like my dad it’s scary

12. Admiral Archer's Prize Beagle - January 9, 2012

13. Lt. BAILEY - January 9, 2012

There is a reason why Shatner is “captain”. Both make good points, but I have to lean to Shatner’s side.

However, I truly feel what George is doing is alright. My wife is fond of having “peace in our galaxy”.

14. JIM - January 9, 2012

@11 Patrick Stewart looks like mine:)

15. combatkarl - January 9, 2012

Silly, childish…just embarrassing. Yet another reason to look forward to fresh blood in this upcoming sequel.

16. Lord Garth, Formerly of Izar - January 9, 2012

And this (possible the greatest videos of all time) is why Bill Shatner will always be my Captain

Kirk and Decker team up for victory

James T. Kirk mans man

17. Trekker5 - January 9, 2012

Amen to that Mr.Shatner!! :) Your the man!!

18. Captain Karl - January 9, 2012

see, now why can’t Mr. Takei take this stance towards ending his “feud” with Mr. Shatner? You can’t call to end the SW/ST “feud” without first burying the hatchet with your former series co-star…preferably the hatchet is not buried in someone’s flesh;)

19. Basement Blogger - January 9, 2012

Ha. Oh my. Guys just kiss and make up.

20. Red Dead Ryan - January 9, 2012

George Takei is a third-rate celeb riding on the coattails of William Shatner and he knows it. Takei is jealous and is trying to steal some of the limelight from Shatner.

Btw, Shatner is a million times funnier than Takei will ever be.

21. NCM - January 9, 2012

I’ve had no interest in following the Shat-Kei feud, but from what I’ve seen, Shatner’s a bit of a mean-spirited, childish instigator; hardly ‘the man.’ Nimoy’s the class act.

22. Buzz Cagney - January 9, 2012

#20 don’t mince words, Red, what do you really think? :-D

(I happen to agree 100% with you though!)

23. AJ - January 9, 2012

This is already a PR stunt. Yuck Yuck. And it IS quite amusing.

24. DonDonP1 - January 10, 2012

Well, at least we all know that ‘Star Trek’ is owned by CBS and ‘Star Wars’ is owned by Lucasfilm.

25. Pointing Out The Obvious - January 10, 2012

Its too bad that Shatner is mediocre at best. There are way more people who are funnier then him, and half the time they aren’t even trying to be funny.

26. Anthony Thompson - January 10, 2012

Shatner keeps up his small-minded feud with Takei. Shame on him!

27. Andy Patterson - January 10, 2012

Loved BNS. Great stuff. Always titillating. Wouldn’t be the same if they did it today.

28. CmdrR - January 10, 2012

Get a room you three. You know you want to…
(But, please, don’t record it.)

29. pilotfred - January 10, 2012

i know your old already however grow up

30. Xanadu - January 10, 2012

I think Shatner’s just mad he didn’t get a cameo in the 2009 movie.

31. jonboc - January 10, 2012

one thing is for certain..
give the Shat an audience that doesn’t get his semse of humor and he will play them like a fiddle! well played Mr Shatner. well played indeed.

32. - January 10, 2012

Shatner wins again. It was always going to happen.

33. SciFiGuy - January 10, 2012

The Shat has hit the fan and, yes, he’s THE MAN!!! So put that in your hookahs and smoke it ye Shat-detractors!! People who don’t like The Shat are just jealous girly-men.

34. Crusade2267 - January 10, 2012

I’m glad that your DVDs get on so well, but my vast collection of Star Trek DVDs started intimidating my 6 Star Wars DVDs, so Red Dwarf and Babylon 5 had to get in between them and break it up…

35. Danpaine - January 10, 2012

My Miami Vice dvd series keeps the peace in between TOS and Star Wars. And Ken Burn’s Civil War is there too, just to keep things in perspective with all that fiction.

36. jas_montreal - January 10, 2012

Who cares anyways. Just be happy that both franchises exist so we have a CHOICE.

37. Harry Mudd - January 10, 2012

I always wondered why Sulu was impervious to the effects of the Venus Drug…

38. Horatio - January 10, 2012

Shat doesn’t look a day over 60. Amazing.

George & Carrie Fisher on the other hand….

39. Dee - lvs moon' surface - January 10, 2012

……….:-) :-)

40. Wes - January 10, 2012

They are working together on this one for media attention!

41. Romulus - January 10, 2012

@ 38. Horatio
It’s called plastic surgery

42. Red Dead Ryan - January 10, 2012

I keep my “Star Trek” and “Star Wars” Blu Ray and dvd collections seperate. I doubt anything will happen, but I keep them seperate to ensure trouble doesn’t brew! :-D

Pretty sure Shatner hasn’t had plastic surgery.

43. ME!! - January 10, 2012

Shatner rules.

Go, Bill!!!

44. William Kirk - January 10, 2012

After the picture of Jabba Shat, there must have been a respond by Bill :-) and yes, Shatner rules! :

45. Enterprisingguy - January 10, 2012

Good stuff! It’s great to see that one again!

When are we going to see something new from that crazy warped brain of yours? Your Trek mashups are the best on the internet! I never get tired of your “Piece of the Action” one!

46. Greenberg - January 10, 2012

I just hope people realise that none of this is serious and that they’re just playing for us.

47. Kirk, James T. - January 10, 2012

Star Trek won’t be remembered for George Takei.

48. Horatio - January 10, 2012

#41 – speaking of plastic surgery, Carrie’s went awry.

49. Starbase Britain - January 10, 2012

King Shatner for Britain please.
United Kingdom

50. Aashlee - January 10, 2012

Oh, good Lord…

51. Sebastian S. - January 10, 2012

Was this ‘feud’ of ST vs SW ever funny? Takei’s remark was the only thing that made me almost chuckle….

52. Canadianknight - January 10, 2012

I think the whole thing is light-hearted fun… and some folks take it way to seriously.

That said… #20, I’ve met both of them quite recently. Shatner was exactly what I expected. Full of himself. Takei was warm, humorous and took the time to actually interact with people, laugh and share with them.

I love the Shat (even though he’s kinda douchy in person), but Takei is a gentleman.

53. Jack - January 10, 2012

51. Neither funny nor particularly clever. Klingon doesn’t really sound like a laundry detergent. It sounds like a kitty litter.

I cringed when Takei got involved. Shat’s pretty all over the map on this original cast feud thing, sometimes he’s relatively contrite, other times he’s darned pissed off and openly, well, sorta mean. And I know, I’ve said that I’d be thrilled if they all show a little grace and just be quiet about it — and that includes Shatner.

54. treksturbation - January 11, 2012

This video response to George Takei is oozing with shatcasm.

55. Horatio - January 11, 2012

Cutting to quick:

Shatner: ” Trek is better than Wars because we were first. And i’m Captain Kirk and I say so cause i’m the first galactic bad ass.”

Fisher: “Oh, Bill. You are so bloated now. Wars had better fx and our franchise makes more than your franchise. So neener neener poo poo.”

Shatner: “Well, double neener neener poo poo on you! :Yeah, I may be bloated now but you sure aren’t a spring chicken yourself anymore. Don’t try putting that slave girl costume on again any time soon.”

Takei: “Look at me! Look at me! I wanna play too!”

Or at least this is how it seems to me….

56. sean - January 11, 2012

Oh please, they’re all in on it and having a good time.

57. Horatio - January 11, 2012

#56 – I agree that Shat and Carrie are in on it. I just think George wants in on it.

58. Woulfe - January 11, 2012

If you want to start a franchise argument….

Godzilla beats both, just by the sheer VOLUME of films in it

59. Phil - January 11, 2012

@20. Nah, George is riding the coattails of Donald Trump these days…..

60. n1701ncc - January 12, 2012

Why is it that when Shatner does something GT has to jump in? I see professional jealousy here. Shatner has re invented his career several times and been successful, GT career fails in comparison

61. Tony Whitehead - January 12, 2012

Who’s George Takei? Oh, he’s that little man standing in Shatner’s shadow.

62. I, Mugsy - January 13, 2012

I have a feeling that George & the Shat probably HAVE buried the hatchet – I think/hope they’re just playing along tongue in cheek now for laughs, and it gets them both publicity.

If they both actually mean what they say however, then it’s gotten beyond childish and very boring indeed. Didn’t they learn anything from their years in Trek? IDIC anyone?! Get some class like Nimoy or Deforest (RIP).
