Is it me or do I see a little Chris Pine in that Kirk Statue. Love the Gorn.

Its you. That is actually one of the better Shatner likenesses in Trek toy history. Its not perfect but not bad, and def not Pine

Something is…. off ….. about Kirkface

#1 I agree. The best likeness is still the 1970’s MEGO action figure, IMO.

As our collecting editor John Tenuto often points out, Shatner Kirk’s likeness has always been tough to do. I think this is one of the best yet, and would be interested to get John’s take when he drops by

I think it looks pretty good. But I think the Playmates figure likeness is better, IMHO.

I like that he’s on a transporter pad with his phaser drawn. What events have led Kirk to get to be in such a situation? Whatever it is, I bet it’s amazing.

Does the center hair come off? Lol jk very nice

“authentic likeness”? It’s awful. The 8″ bust is way better.

In the full statue shot, the facial likeness reminds me a bit of Chris Hemsworth… and maybe a touch of de-aged Tron: Legacy Jeff Bridges.

Not bad, but it looks like Matt Damon.

He looks more like Michael Shannon than like Shatner, maybe he’s beaming into to a Speak Easy in this scene.

Anthony you are so right!

Seems like sculptors & painters have a real hard time trying to nail down all of the distinct elements of Shatner’s face.

I think Diamond Select’s third mold is the best likeness I’ve ever seen. It’s the one they used for the WNMHGB & the Enemy Within versions of Kirk. it’s a great sculpt but unfortunatley their paint tones suffered badly by that point, so he looks sunburnt.

man…so hard to capture a good Shatner. The face is very good, betrayed by the hair and the eyes. The hair sculpt is much too puffed up for the TOS era and Kirk’s signature forehead “curl” should be hanging down. The other problem is the painting of the eyes…his left eye is looking up while his right eye is looking slightly downward. if they were in sync it would be one of the best Shatner sculpts to date. The other problem I have is the stance…it’s rather awkward. Doesn’t seem natural. Oh well, I love this stuff, but I’ll have to pass on this one. The Spock statue at the science station looks promising though and the Gorn looks spot on.

The sculptor couldn’t seem to get the hair right. But then again, even Shatner himself couldn’t get the hair right during the ’80’s!

They still can’t get Shat-Kirk’s face right.

Why is Kirk firing over Scotty’s head in the transporter room?

The face is not bad, but the body is wrong. TOS Shat was more muscular (and yes, a little tubby around the middle.)

Love for Gorn, though.

How cool would it be to have ten of them on a table looking like they are fighting eachother.

“Kirk’s signature forehead “curl” should be hanging down”

Romney stole that.

Just sayin…

I can’t see William Shatner in this sculpt but weirdly Ryan Renolds?

It’s Shatner, but TMP Shatner, not TOS Shatner.

Wow his head is WAY too big. Or the shoulders / upper body not thick enough.

Looks like David Carouso from CSI Miami lol

i think this proves that there is a little bit of romanticisim by the fans when it comes to shatner’s kirk. yes the hair is a little off, but if you look at all seasons of the the original series, it does look like kirk (remember that its quite possible that a sculpter will look at an image from one of the episodes from one of the seasons. it looks like kirk, mentioning all these other actors proves a point that others have made that hemsworth, damon, and pine all resemble TOS era kirk.
i dont know, just my oppinion.

It´s TMP Shatner, would by nice in TMP uniform. It´s good to see, that Shatner – Kirk is still THE Kirk.

It is definitely a Shatner/Kirk face placed on a Pine/Kirk body shape. The face is a great likeness to William Shatner, one of the best I have seen. I have no idea why people think that this face looks like Ryan Reynolds…Huh?!

William Shatner has a shorter wider body and this bust does not show that. Pine has a longer narrower body shape which this bust does show, except that the legs need to be just a bit longer. The Pine man has very long legs. William Shatner’s height is, I believe, about 5 feet 9/10 inches, whereas Chris Pine is about 6 feet and half/1 inch.

In one of the pictures from the Captains Documentary thread, there is a photo of Chris Pine and William Shatner standing together. The height difference was VERY noticeable. Of course, people slowly start to shrink as they get older so it is possible that William Shatner of TOS era may have a little taller than he is now.

It is not that surprising that someone would see a likeness to Chris Hemsworth. All to do with the brilliant Trek casting team. We are meant to see similarities/likenesses between William Shatner, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine because they were/are playing a Kirk!

Very good Shatner likeness – I like this statue; looks like the real thing! :)

I think it looks great….you can’t even tell he is wearing a hair piece.

He kind of looks a little like william shatner had a baby with matt damon. The body is a little too slender I think. But very good sculpt nonetheless.
