OK, that was pretty bad.

Juvenile

OK, that was pretty sad.

Duh, it’s Weird Al. That’s kind of what he specializes in.

Dreadful.

I am sad now. We are all dumber for having watched that. Fortunately I stopped at the 2 minute mark. If I had watched all 9:48 I would have been full-on Pakled.

not funny

That was painful! I couldn’t bear to watch the whole thing. One minute was too long for me.

#4 Acually he specializes in song parodes…but if you think that was good…so be it…

That’s one of the best fake interviews he’s ever done. What’s wrong with you people? The editing was top notch. He’s done this kind of thing for decades, but I guess how dare he make fun of Picard, or something.

His accordian playing is pretty good. I liked UHF. But, yeah, this was just a resounding MEH.

Pathetic

@ 10

Clearly it does not take much to amuse you. We live in an age where plenty of comedians specialise in actual crank interview with cdelebrities. Taking a video and faking an interview is not only old hat, but Yakovic himself seems unable to come up with any good jokes in it, instead, as someone else said, resorting to juvenile nonsense that simple isn’t funny.

I can only imagine that simpletons would find this funny.

Some of your own medicine:

What’s wrong with you! How could you laugh at that? For a guy that does parodies, he has apparently become one. Of himself. People around here have had better taste in humor for decades so how dare we not laugh at something so isipid.

Look, it’s really a matter of personal preference. If you like it, grand. But don’t expect an internet comments section to be mindful of your, or Al Yankovic’s feelings. Clearly the majority didn’t dig it.

Genius!

Lol, that was pretty good. Love all his fake interviews. I definitely think people should stop looking down on different forms of humor just because some people think they’re above it, calling it “juvenile”. Come on, either laugh and like it, or don’t. People’s senses of humor have been dulled by too many dirty jokes, sex jokes, racist jokes, and profanity. Not all humor has to be like it. Just let people laugh at what they think is funny.
And using words like “isipid” just proves that some people are too ‘mentally grown up’ for their own good. Learn to laugh people! It’s creative. Laughing is goos for your health, laugh at a corny joke every once in a while! Laughter is the best medicine..

Normally when he does these for his Al TV specials they’re really funny (look up the Eminem one on Youtube) but lately with his new web series, they’re very hit and miss.

This one, unfortunately, is a miss.

@17

I liked the Eminem one too. This makes me want to rewatch all his older ones.

I think Weird Al implies that Khan is not in the movie.

Using words like “insipid” just proves that I have a decent vocabulary. You can’t prove anything about my behavior from my writing. I play with my kids all the time. We run around the woods and have lightsaber battles. My sense of humor is, in my own estimation, pretty damned good. But I have nothing to prove to you.

#19

Now THAT’S funny!

@20

Then we agree we have nothing to prove to each other.
But on this site, phaser battles are more appropriate ;)

I’m with #10 and 16 on this one. I liked it. But then…I haven’t seen any of these before. So it was new to me.

the brent spiner joke towards the end was the funiest part

Weird Al never fails to make me laugh., this was great

Weird Al is either brilliantly inspired or excruciatingly bad. This falls into the latter category.

Very good. I have to admit that the lightsabers are wicked cool. Unfortunately way cooler than the phasers.

Funny, as a kid we played Star Trek all the time. It really was the best game going. But Star Wars came along and not making any judgments about which is a better entertainment to watch, it was the more fun to play with our friends. Nowdays I would love to get the kids to play a rousing game of Star Trek Landing Party Adventure but Jedi v. Sith is their game of choice.

And BTW, the issue I have is not with people liking or not liking the Yankovic video, or his particular style of humor. My issue is with people that criticize others that don’t share the same taste as they do.

#9

I didn’t say it was good. I said he specializes in juvenile humor. That’s been his shtick for decades.

This is painful to listen to even. I am writing this as I am listening and even Patrick Stewart seemed pained to be there. It really is all about Al Yankovic and it’s not very good.

Lame – o.

CRAP!

If shit rubbed up against this video, shit would try real hard to get it off!

James Cawley just posted a pic from behind the scenes od the new movie on Facebook. Pegg and Yelchin wearing very Nazi like dress uniforms with caps .. very Imperial as in Star Wars…

I do not have Facebook. If possible, could you please post the picture here. Thank you.

Not sure there is a way to share that picture here without hosting it and i shouldnt do that. Im sure there will be an article here very shortly. If you like pm me at rmeyers@nyc.rr.com

They actually look very similar to the dispatch officers uniform from the shuttle bay scene in Trek 09. Like WWI uniforms. The hats are a bit much though. Fun trek/old timey space logo.

A boring “paint by the numbers” editing job masquerading as satire. Really weak.

I used to love when MTV would have him in for a day and he’d run these with various famous music folk. Hysterical.
Also, I used to love to get high.

Time sucks.

blaahh… :-( :-(

Yankovic is a Duche!

These “interviews” Al does occasionally miss the mark, but generally they’re kind of fun. The one he did with Celine Dion “loving the smell of her mother cooking” was classic – as was the Eminem one referred to earlier. This one had its moments as well, the “shooting the pilot and not knowing what I was doing” bit worked well.

Weird Al has done a couple of Star Wars parodies, as you know, but never one about Star Trek. He has made occasional references to the show – in “Trapped in a Closet with Vanna White” he mentions bowling on the Starship Enterprise. In “Albuquerque” he wins a trivia contest by guessing the number of molecules in Leonard Nimoy’s butt (he missed by three). In “Genius in France”, the lead character is such a nerd that he’s “not even welcome at the Star Trek convention” and in “You’re PItiful”, he tells the subject of the song “Your homemade Star Trek uniform really ain’t impressing me” and in “White and Nerdy”, of course, there are three references – when he says that he’s “fluent in Javascript and Klingon” and later when he says the “only question I ever thought was hard was do I like Kirk or do I like Picard”, plus he makes reference to Earl Grey tea and gives the Vulcan salute at the end of the video. Finally, in the unreleased (but you can find it on the internet) “Gee I’m a Nerd” (a parody of “Free As A Bird”) he mentions having seen every Star Trek episode 80 times.

There may be others, but that’s all I can remember off-hand.

Yes, I’m a Weird Al fan – even met him twice. Doesn’t mean I like all his stuff, but I’m a big fan nonetheless. I just wonder if and when he’ll ever do a Star Trek parody to rank up there with “Yoda” and “The Saga Begins”.

When I see Patrick Stewart with a goatee I think of Admiral Picard in the episode “Future Imperfect”

Not Funny

I LOVE WEIRD AL! ive been a fan off his for 16 years noww :))

in a random statement on one of Al’s song he mentions “bowling on he starship Enterprise” the is song called, “Stuck in a closet with Vanna White” -lol –

I met Weird Al, he has no sense of humor!

Besides this being horridly boring, why is this now a news story on Trekmovie.com, given Comicon was 11 months ago?

Crap

Trek Brasilis photos. Anjini Taneja Azhar with star trek cast. Pegg and Yeltin in militar uniforms. Probably playing the daughter of the characters of Noel Clarke and Nazneen Contractor.

Trekbrasilis is the best Trek site on the Web. Too bad we Americans only know how to speak American (not even English).
