Geek Nation Tours Announces “Exploring Trek Sites: Hollywood to Vegas with Larry Nemecek” Tour 2013

Following the success of their 2012 Hollywood to Vegas tour, Geek Nation Tours has announced the August 2013 edition of their Trekkie tour that follows Trek sites around Hollywood and LA area and beyond into Nevada — with some special guests along the way – and ending at the annual Creation Star Trek convention in Las Vegas. Geek Nation has once again teamed up with Larry “Dr. Star Trek” Nemecek, who will be leading the tour group. Get more details below and an exclusive photo from the 2012 tour.

Geek Nation Tours is again teaming up with “Dr. Star Trek” Larry Nemecek to make their second tour of Star Trek film locations en route to the fabled Las Vegas Convention a truly extraordinary experience. The nine-day tour (from 3-12 August, 2013) will visit famous and obscure Trek locations between Hollywood and Vegas and culminates in the big annual Star Trek convention at the Las Vegas Rio.

2013 will mark the 20th anniversary of Star Trek Deep Space Nine as well as the opening of the new JJ Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness, so there’s a lot to celebrate. The so-called “H2V” (Hollywood to Vegas) tour will again this year be guest-led by Larry Nemecek, noted Star Trek guru, consultant, journalist, producer, and author of the Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion. If you want to get the real stories of Trek, a tour with Larry is not one to pass up. Larry and co will take tour guests to filming sites from The Original Series, The Next Generation series and films, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise, and even the new JJ verse films. Some sites familiar, some obscure—but all iconic and ready for you to revisit, right on location.

Tour Details — what’s included
The entire package costs $2699.00 CAD (based on double occupancy in the hotel), and includes:

  • Star Trek Expertise from Co-Guide Larry Nemecek
  • All hotel nights including 6 Nights at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino
  • Motor coach transportation
  • Entrance fees to most venues
  • “How to get the best out of your tour” exclusive Welcome Dinner
  • All breakfasts while in Los Angeles, Lunches on Day 3 and Day 4
  • Paramount Studio tour
  • Valley of Fire tour
  • airport transfers to and from the hotel(s)
  • tour guide service
  • Commemorative (and stylish) Hollywood2Vegas bowling shirt
  • Star Trek Towel
  • Creation Entertainment discount voucher
  • and all taxes and fees

The tour is also known for having some special guests along the way. In 2012, stunt man and fan favorite Bobby “The Gorn” Clark showed up at the famous Vasquez Rocks location to explain just what it was like shooting one of the most famous fight scenes in history (also referred to as “the worst combat fight in Hollywood history”). That would be, of course, the epic battle between Gorn and Kirk in the TOS episode “Arena”.

At the end of the journey, the group will arrive in Las Vegas for the granddaddy of them all: Creation Entertainment’s famous Star Trek Convention, where your Rio hotel is included in the tour as well as ongoing con and Vegas meet-ups as the group desires.

Sign Me Up!
The tour only accepts a total of 35 guests, so you’ll want to book sooner rather than later to ensure a spot. Read more about the day-to-day details of the tour at the Geek Nation Tours website, and book a place (with no money down) using the Tour Reservation Form.

Road trip!

Headed up to Vasquez Rocks a few years ago. Such geeky fun being there.

Looks like great fun, hope to visit Vasquez Rocks soon!

What happened with the Con of Wrath film? :-)

Wow, I wish I could go to this. Such awesomeness.

Vasquez Rocks is so built up now, compared to only 15 years ago, never mind 1966

4. Trekzilla: Con of Wrath is very much alive! Check out the Facebook page or my list. We just had George T. before our list revisit to Houston an dkiller weather balloons …

10. Al: More built up, but still plenty open. Unless you mean picnic tables & PortaPotties.

SAve your pennies, guys, and try to come. Will be more awesome than last year’s, and more sponsor goodies too. Thanks Anthony & Kaylai for getting the word out.

I went on this tour last summer with Larry Nemecek and Teras from Geek Nation Tours and it was outstanding. So much fun and well worth the cost. Much more fun to see these sites with a great group of fans, and with Larry’s tremendous knowledge of everything Trek. Being at Vazquez Rocks with Bobby Clark was amazing. Special Trek-oriented Paramount studios tour was another high point. I highly recommend it.

#7. — Hi Larry! Thanks for the info! :-) As a participant at “The Ultimate Fantasy”, I’m really looking forward to your film! That event evokes both good and bad memories. I’m sure you can relate! :-)

Thanks again!!

Hello all!

Larry and I are even happier with this year’s tour. We re-organized the route and added a stop or two. It is going to be a blast and I can’t wait to make it back to the sites and to the Vegas convention.

If you are interested hop over to our site and secure a spot with no money down. GNT will then call you to talk tour details and answer any questions you may have :)

I was also on the inaugural tour of H2V…Definitely recommend this tour as a great way to see some more obscure locations in LA. After visiting the sites, I went back and re-watched TOS, TNG, and VOY, at is actually amazing how often they used these sites through the series. Unfortunately not able to go on the tour next year, but hoping to see you guys in Calgary and Vegas to find out how the planning and execution of the tour is going.

Awesome, I can’t wait. The Rio is a perfect spot, too, since I can just hop on over to he Goldcoast for some Ping Pang Pong lunch and then get back to the convention. Score!
