Hasbro Reveals Star Trek KRE-O line

Today executives from Hasbro conducted an extensive Investor Day Webcast presentation in advance of the annual Toy Fair trade show which kicks off on Sunday. During the presentation CEO Brian Goldner also discussed plans for their line of KRE-O building block sets for Star Trek Into Darkness. He announced there will be a total of 11 different Star Trek building sets with 18 different "KREON" figures. Goldner also talked about new technology for the sets saying:

In May when the Star Trek movie comes to the big screen we are featuring a variety of intergalactic space vehicles from the movie, including one of the most iconic space vehicles of all time–the USS Enterprise and Collectible KREONS. We are introducing a new technology called "LightTech" that will allow every space vehicle to come to life with light.

His presentation also showed this slide about Star Trek.

Here is a closer look at some of the figures

And here is a closer look at some of three of the sets (sorry for low resoltuion – TrekMovie is trying to get better images).

Does Lego know about Kreo?

First!!!
I’ll have to get one of those Enterprises!!!!

THEY HAVE TO IMPORT THAT ENTERPRISE MODEL!

Ahem… sorry for the screaming, but I think it’s justified.

The packaging consistency between Revell’s model and the KreO line may be the new packaging for STID items, or for Star Trek in general. Both lines have the name Star Trek (no “Into Darkness” interestingly) and Kirk and Spock in the same exact poses.

Maybe if they really wanted a ‘cloaked-effect’ BoP they could have made it out of clear plastic ??

Even a crystal BoP ??

IMO, that Klingon BOP variant is the stoopidest thing in AGES.

1. Lego knows.

Lego was suing a company known as MegaBloks in Canada for quite some time. The suit ended up being unsuccessful because it was deemed that Lego could not copyright their construction system (namely nubs and tubes, or whatever). That ruling opened the door for Hasbro to introduce Kre-O (which I don’t think has been super successful anyway).

What I want to know is when Diamond Select will be doing the Enterprise-C & the JJ-prise. Love not having to put them together.

I think TPTB have forgotten Bones exists and is part of the trio.

Looks to me like some major design changes have been made to the Bird of Prey, which fits in with the logic of the Klingons having Nero for however many years. Exciting!

Also, first ever new-style Klingon figure. The collectors must be pretty excited.

So far all of the official Star Trek “Lego” sets that have been released are ugly (and that includes the Mega Blocks Enterprise-D). Lego needs to get the contract. Their licensed products are incredible.

That KRE-O stuff is way too cutesy for my tastes…reminds me of muppet babies or the Flintstone kids…yuk…but, having that, It’s not made for me. If it will get kids to have fun and play Star Trek like I did when I was a kid, then I’ll consider it a rousing success. I wish it well!

Any word on action figures or vehcile toys besides the Kre-O ones?

HOW ABOUT SOME HASBRO 3 3/4 INCH FIGURES THAT ACTUALLY STAND UP…

PRAY THAT GALOOB/ PLAYMATES DONT GET ANY LICENSES FOR THE NEW MOVIE…THEY WILL PROMISE THE UNIVERSE AND DELIVER NOTHING.

9.

I’ve noticed that the trio in JJ verse tends to be Kirk, Spock and Uhura.

Please blow up that ugly Enterprise with the chunky nacelles in STID!! Ugh…then bring it back as a prettier ship — worthy of the name!

A ship with no brewery for an engine room I might add!

Anyone thinking Lego would do a better job is talking rubbish. The only plus to have had lego would have been the reputation lego has and the video game tie ins, other than that I think Hasbro have done a better job with Star Trek than Lego have done with Iron Man 3.

Adding the lights is genius, so gonna get the entire line of Kreo stuff

It would be good to get a lego collectors edition for Star Trek. Some of the star wars kits were amazing.

The artwork on that Revell box looks better than the model its self…

WHERE THE F*** ARE THE PLAYSETS AND SHIPS?! I want a damaged Enterprise toy dammit! These better not be the only ones to be made!

I’m with number 3; import, plz

So did Polar Lights lose the rights to the JJ Enterprise altogether? It still blows my mind that they never released the model kit until now, and it’s in Germany.

My brother collects some of the Transformers Kreon figures. They’re not as well made as the Lego figures. For example, if you take out and reinsert their hands too many times, the arms get stress marks on them.

I agree that LEGO deserves to get the Star Trek license.

With their handling of the “Star Wars,” “Batman,” and “Indiana Jones” properties, they have shown that the are capable of delivering quality products. Plus, their partnership with Travelers Tales has produced an enjoyable series of video games.

I look forward to seeing what LEGO comes up with for their forthcoming “Back to the Future” product line.

Phasers and communicators and action figures from hasbro please !

Who else agrees ?

WOW! Amazingly CRAP! So Hascrap was lying to me at Comic Con last year!?! Where’s the action figures and big Enterprise!? Oh well, saves me a bunch of money since I ain’t getting any Kre-O crap. Love the Revell model and BoP though!

Have fun!

J-R!

A 6-pointed betleH!!! Looks weird…

#8 – JJ Prise was done when the movie came outback in 2009. I have one sitting on a shelf in my living room. It was a gift. Visit Diamond Select web site and see if they still have any.

DST make great ships but they do drag their feet.

I’ve had the BOP & 1701-B on pre-order with Forbidden Planet UK since February 2012. Every few weeks I get an email it was delayed etc etc.
Finally DST say they both will be out in December (in the US) so I was hopeful of an early January release in UK. I’m now told there has been an issue with deliveries and BOTH will not be released till late March, early April.

Also annoying is that the cloaked BOP is only available via one shop. I’ve ordered one but it will cost me over £40 more than the BOP for p&p and even then I’ll probably be charged about £15 for customs.

Surely they can see that people outside the US are interested in their Star Trek Merchandise???!!!!

As for the Kre-on stuff, I’ll wait till they come down in price.
You can get the 2009 3.75 figures for a £1 in Poundland and the 6inch figures in Home Bargains for around £1.99. The bridge and transporter rooms are also about £5-£7 each.

Lego laughs at kreo. I predict a quick death for this line.

I hope the action figures are 4.5″ Not the little 3.75″ and not the bigger 6″ ones. Hope Hasbro can do an even better 4.5″ figure than Playmates.

Diamond Select hasn’t done a JJprise or any other stuff from new movies,so I doubt you’ll find anything at their website. Amazon has the Playmates stuff, which is probably the JJprise people have. Got one myself, and I like it as I don’t think it’s ugly at all! But Hascrap better step up with some figs and ships, and I don’t mean the Krap-O version.
J-R!

yeah, no, the LEGO Star Wars stuff is outstanding! =)

this stuff still looks like crap, but at least it’s better than Playmates! =D

LEGO did not INVENT Plastic Bricks, a British Company known as Kiddiecraft did. The Danish company LEGO produces quality, that is now debatable with some production moving away from Denmark/Europe. So please let the record show Mr. Hilary ‘Harry’ Fisher Page is the true INVENTOR of the plastic building blocks.

HAHA now it’s revealed! At the end of the Movie they getting a new WHITE Enterprise:-D

what’s hasbro thinking!? they’re making star trek TOYS that might actually be FUN??

the nerve of those people!

I went to the Revell Germany site, they will ship to America. Guess I’ll be ordering as soon as the ship is released.

‘The word’ on the Revell Enterprise is they do NOT HAVE the license for the U.S.

If you want one it’s grey market or order from Europe.

Too bad, looks like a nice model.

Blech!

When is Hasbro going to show the good stuff?

to further weigh in on Kre-O, Lego:

The Kre-Os look fine, they’re toys not models. That said it’s too bad Lego doesn’t have the Star Trek license, because yes there would have been some great sets to buy and build.

Or is it too bad??? I grew up building all sorts of everything out of lego and this is before the specialty kits and product licenses etc etc. I built all the star trek stuff (ok and star wars too) out of Legos before there were official kits and I dare say I did a fine job by comparison. If only I could post you all some pics to prove it, I still kept together my TOS bridge and Shuttle and have them to this day!

Bat’leth!!! Cool!!

I’m really digging the new Klingon look, and I’m so stoked that they are using Bat’leths!!

I just hope that the treatment of them in the movie is just as cool.

“The KRE-O STAR TREK SPACE DIVE building set includes 36 pieces and two KREON figures, CAPTAIN KIRK and a villain with press-fire projectile weapons and accessories!”

“Based on iconic STAR TREK characters from the upcoming STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS movie from Paramount Pictures, these KREON FIGURE PACKS feature one collectible KREON figure and accessory per pack, with six different characters available in the spring of 2013 including: GORN, CAPTAIN NERO, KEENSER, GRASIA, KINGON and LIEUTENANT SPRONG. Twelve additional KREON figures will be released in fall 2013, including: CAPTAIN KIRK, SPOCK, BORG DRONE and GENERAL CHANG.”

42. Indeed, plus “transporter trouble” and “space dive” (with a diff costume than Trek 09 — looks like the one Kirk’s wearing in the trailer) sets — scenes from the next movie, or just general Trek situations?

Question is: are Chang and a Borg in this movie?! XD

The Kre-o’s look fun. I love the Klingons. And the Gorn looks interesting.

Just looking at that revel enterprise I keep having the thought, MUST MOVE NECK FORWARD ALONG WITH NACELLES

Does anyone notice that the KREO bird of prey looks just like the ship from the STID trailer?

I would hope they know, hasbro’s factory is on 5 minutes down the road from legos.

#47. Yeah, I think a lot of people just assumed it was a Klingon BOP from its general design.

This part of the description is bizarre:

“Based on iconic STAR TREK characters from the upcoming STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS movie… six different characters available in the spring of 2013 including: GORN, CAPTAIN NERO, KEENSER, GRASIA, KINGON and LIEUTENANT SPRONG. Twelve additional KREON figures will be released in fall 2013, including: CAPTAIN KIRK, SPOCK, BORG DRONE and GENERAL CHANG.”

That would seem to indicate that INTO DARKNESS will include a Gorn and Nero. Huh??
