Watch: Benedict Cumberbatch in The Simpsons

This Sunday The Simpsons has a special Valentine’s Day-themed episode which includes a scene of Homer and the guys being inispired by a British romantic comedy. In the clip Benedict Cumberbatch plays double-duty as a Hugh Grant-like British Prime Minister and Harry Potter’s Snape. You can watch the clip at EW.com or via YouTube below (although the YouTube clip seems to be reversed.

His Snape his really very good. I see a great future as a voiceover artist if the acting thing doesn’t work out for him.

1. I think BC has the ‘acting thing’ sorted.

Love Benedict’s voiceover!

BC does a decent Snape. Alan Rickman was Snape…and Dr. Lazarus in Galaxy Quest. Nah, all a coincidence…..

I think the Star Trek franchise is very lucky to have an actor with Mr. Cumberbatch’s ability star in one of it’s movies.

Ugh, again with this Simpsons crap, can someone please cancel this show. Stopped being funny 20 years ago.

Benedict’s got a great voice and is also an excellent mimic. Shame his part in ‘The Simpsons’ is so brief, but he makes the most of it.

You’re right, Harry. Star Trek is very lucky to have him.

If you have not listened to the radio sitcom from BBC Cabin Pressure, you are missing a hilarious show. Cumberbatch is a main cast member and his voice work is “brilliant”. It’s worth a few bucks on iTunes.

His Hawking is also worth a few bucks on iTunes if we’re mentioning things…

Wow the Simpsons still on Television. I thought they stopped making that years ago.

I shall be watching it very closely for any Khan hints. The game is afoot if he says “from hell’s heart I stab at thee.”

“I know back east has a blizzard but LA is crazy too. Hailed half an hour ago and now its blue skies. Im guessing #villainwithweathermachine” As of writing now, this was tweeted 10 minutes ago to TrekMovie.

Welcome to Auckland, New Zealand. This sort of thing happens a fair bit downunder in these parts. Driving under perfect blue skies with perfect visibility so why are people slowing up ahead? – must be an accident…No, suddenly visibility is almost nil – whiteout, hail stones and heavy torrential rain is pelting down on the windscreen, wipers on fastest speed can’t cope and you are now barely driving at 10-15km/hr and only just see the red brake lights on the car ahead of you. You crawl through this for about 10 minutes, then suddenly it is bright blue skies, perfect visibility and the road as dry as a bone. It has happened to me at least twice.

“It’s excitin’…”

@6. Still Tired:
Nah, more like FIFTEEN years ago. There were some pretty darn good episodes up to season nine or so. But if you just wanted to express how dreadfully unfunny that clip was, I wholeheartedly agree.

Why is this “news” relevant to this site?

Does anybody still even watch the Simpsons?

Bitch when there aren’t enough articles. Bitch when there are too many.

Heavy sigh.

“The Simpsons” stopped being good ten years ago. The producers milked so much out of this cow, its just a shell of its former self.

I just want to hear him as Smaug. In glorious Dolby Atmos. Smaug’s monologue is still my favorite villain monilogue ever.

Also, he should really play Snape in the inevitable Harry Potter reboot.

Kind of amazing, given that it’s Season 24.

by the time Potter will be rebooted Cumberbatch will be old enough to play Dumbledore..let’s be realistic here for a moment.

#8 or free on the iplayer bbc.co.uk/iplayer. Under radio / comedy.

yeah, Simpsons was “over” a long time ago… =(

thinking of cancelling cable… media is SUCH A BAD INFLUENCE… =(

give me the good old days of TOS & “Kung Fu”…

#14 – It is relevant because we get a little foretaste of what we hope we will be hearing coming from the lips of John Harrison aka Benedict Cumberbatch. Chris Pine has already commented about the Cumberbatch (Harrison?) voice, ie giving high praise.

i still like the simpsons….heck they had a successful movie years ago….although i like futurama better n family guy….

#1: He’s already on a radio comedy called “Cabin Pressure” and has been since 2008.

FOX are being dicks denying us this clip!

It’s called FREE ADVERTISING, people!!
