Watch: Funny Esurance Into Darkness TV Spot + Chekov & Scotty Get Domestic Character Posters

Esurance is now running a commercial in the US for Star Trek Into Darkness that is kind of funny. Plus poor Chekov finally gets respect with his own domestic character poster (and Scotty gets one too). Check it all out below.

Esurance TV Spot: Space Fender Bender

Esurance has released their first TV spot from their Star Trek Into Darkness co-marketing campaign and it is pretty clever and apparently shot on the real bridge of the USS Enterprise.

Esurance TV spots join those for Mazda and Acer Computers.

April 24, 2013 2:36 pm

I like these domestic posters. Nice and colourful.

April 24, 2013 2:41 pm

not sure it’s the real enterprise set tho. too many differences.

April 24, 2013 2:51 pm

Was that a Reman on the screen?

April 24, 2013 2:52 pm

Why is Chekov is red!?

April 24, 2013 2:53 pm

Like the color on the domestic posters. Redshirt Chekov is doomed, though…

April 24, 2013 2:56 pm

I guess it was just having some faith and patience – that’s all it was.

We now a great poster of each of the magnificent seven. I wonder if there might be one of Admiral Pike (Bruce Greenwood) making it a wonderful super 8…who knows…

edit – meant to write “We now HAVE a…”

I’m bummed there are no action figures for this movie.

April 24, 2013 3:09 pm

What is that behind Chekov on the bridge, a McDonald’s menu?

April 24, 2013 3:10 pm

It isn’t exact, because it’s not meant to be the Enterprise. Does the Captain not say “Why is that the Enterprise gets all the good missions”. It’s a random Starfleet ship. Oh, and the Reman-like alien sit’s in Marcus/Harrison chair :)

Wow. Simon Pegg looks a little like James Doohan. Also. Look’s like Scotty is wearing a Star Trek Enterprise Uniform

That alien looks and sounds like John C Reilly.

April 24, 2013 3:48 pm

That’s because it is john c reilly

April 24, 2013 3:55 pm

Is windows, complete with tiled wallpaper, running on the screens behind Chekov?

The spoiler policy is much appreciated, btw.

April 24, 2013 4:02 pm

April 24, 2013 4:57 pm

The ad had me chortling too.

@18. rogerachong – both Sulu and Marcus have an international poster on this site in the news item entitled ‘Watch: Star Trek Into Darkness Clip #2 + New Int’l Character Posers’

April 24, 2013 6:41 pm

Jason Sudekis is awesome. So is John C. Reilly. Neither guy’s in this commercial, though.

April 24, 2013 6:52 pm

About the esurance commercial: There’s a reason Starfleet assigned those two to the graveyard command shift.

P.S.: Not enough lens flares.

You got to give Disney/Paramount cred for the sheer genius of gumming up the advance ticket sales on IRON MAN 3:,0,2841925.story

I can just see all the news coverage/free advertising on the record lines on opening day.

Wow, he is a serious doppelgänger for Sudekis. Great commercial.

April 24, 2013 10:08 pm

@29 I agree – I paused the commercial a couple times thinking it was Jason Sudekis! I’m pretty sure it’s not.

Thought the commercial was funny! It’d be cool if they have a couple different versions of the commercial with those two. I suppose it’s one way of getting a Trek “series” back on TV….

Peg look terrible- I hope marketing did that without his approval, for his sake.
Mr Chekov, I’ll have the #3 with a Sprite from the menu board behind you.

That eSurance commercial was more entertaining than any of the other clips released so far.

April 25, 2013 2:48 am

That’s it the red shirt is to hide the ketchup stains. Or is it the frame shorts of the red forest in Niribu.

April 25, 2013 9:19 am

Yes–I would LOVE to see a Pike poster. Waiting for that!
Also, what about a great official photo of Pike for this movie? There were 2 for the 2009 movie—-2 wonderful photos.

April 25, 2013 1:25 pm

No more lens flares?

Where is Chekov sitting exactly? Is that the navigation station, or is that another station on the bridge?

Why would he be wearing a red shirt and continuing to sit at his same old post!
