I figured out why Spock looks so odd.
Quinto’s wearing a wig and has his significant dark brows covered by some sort of brow mask.
He may want a freebie X-box but not enough to do the whole haircut/brows thing! ;-D
Assuming the XBOX ONE commercial was filmed recently, it makes sense that Quinto would not be dramatically altering his actual appearance while The Glass Menagerie is still playing.

yeah, picture it….Comic Con 2047….Quinto, squeezing into his male girdle (called a “Shatner”), makes a guest appearance for some quatloos. As he slaps the Vulcan wig on his head and waddles out on stage he mutters, “it’s showtime!”

I’m with Picardo regarding Stargate. I found it to be far more enjoyable than any contemporary Trek show. Maybe that makes me not very bright but enthusiastic like a child. I can live with that over overly ambitious and po-faced like some of the later Trek’s were.

32 PEB Quinto can execute a perfect Vulcan salute with his LEFT hand. I have no idea why they made him use his right hand in STXI.
A lot of people have trouble doing the Vulcan LLAP hand gesture. It is likely easier for those who start doing it when they are quite young than it is for someone older.
Leonard Nimoy recounts how he first saw that hand gesture being made when he was a boy with his parents worshipping at a synagogue. Apparently that gesture, made by rabbis at a certain part of one of the Judaist religious rites(?), is not supposed to be seen, but the young Leonard peaked and began copying the hand gesture in secret.
William Shatner, also brought up within the Orthodox Jew (Judaist) religion, apparently never peaked. He has never been able to do those hand movements successfully. Then again, he was playing a human captain who had little, if anything, to do with Vulcans in his formative years, so it sort of makes sense that this character might have difficulty making the correct hand gesture. The fact that he tried to do it is what counts.
The irony comes with the new actors. It seems that Zachary Quinto, who plays the vulcan (LLAP hand gesture) Spock has a lot of difficulty doing that gesture, whereas the actor playing the human Kirk seems to have little difficulty doing that hand gesture. Chris Pine has often been seen giving that hand gesture. Both actors are of a similar age (Zach about three years older) and would have quite possibly been aware of Kirk, Spock etc and the Vulcan LLAP sign… maybe it comes down to learning how to develop and manipulate muscles in the hand/fingers at an early age through learning to play a musical instrument, like a guitar.
*One of CP’s hobbies is playing the guitar…I have no idea about ZQ…
The book sounds absolutely fascinating. It does seem to support my own understanding of how often things played out in those days of the 1960s. It is interesting to note that GR got a boot for telling a (fictional) story dealing with racism in the military (ref. The Lieutenant).
I suspect that, in terms of sociological history, the late 1960’s/early 1970’s, are quite significant, as well as interesting.
Zachary Quinto is left-handed. That makes sense now. I can do the sign with both hands, but it is much easier to do with my right hand, because I am right handed.

I agree the LLAP gesture is easier to learn when you are young. I taught myself to do it with both hands when I was 12. My husband, who was not a trekkie growing up (and would deny being one now), can’t really manage it at all. Both my sons could do it before they could handle a knife and fork properly. They were perhaps a little developmentally delayed when it came to handling cutlery…
…oh, and to answer Keachick’s query: I believe Quinto plays the banjo.

McCartneys new album is awesome….Best reviewed album in a long time…this one song is very addictive….if you want to get the album get the deluxe version at Target with extra songs and a target only dvd interview bonus disc showing highlights of his Out There tour this year..I got to see him in july at seattles safeco field sold out crowd of 47,000 plus during an encore Nirvana joined Paul for thier song and several beatles classics…

Love it…but I still can’t make what Chris said that Paul said was a line out of “A Hard Days Night”… Chris and Paul look great – fanboys together…:) (Paul being a trekkie fanboy and Chris obviously a Paul McCartney (Beatles) fanboy). The use of “fanboy” here is meant in the nicest and neatest possible way.
I did not realize when I first watched the song video that that was Alice Eve on the piano. She is so attractive and sexy.
This video is so different from much that is around now. It goes back to basics and is enchanting. Song ain’t too bad either…:)
