Shuttle Pod – The TrekMovie.com Podcast Now on iTunes + Episode 2: How Well Has TNG Aged?

The Next Generation may not be celebrating an important milestone (like VOY’s 20 years this year or TOS’s 50 years next year), but we felt it was time to take a look back at what is arguably the most commercially successful incarnation of the Star Trek franchise. This week, Brian and Jared are joined by Kayla Iacovino to talk about The Next Generation. How does it stand up to a modern audience? If you were to remake TNG for 2015, what would you change? What would you keep the same? The trio dive into topics such as characters, story lines, message, and even costumes, set dressings, and hair styles. And starting today, you can listen to the podcast on iTunes or on Pocket Casts!

Star Trek Beyond Begins Next Phase of Filming With Press Conference in Dubai

As we edge ever closer to the picture wrap of Star Trek Beyond, still very little information has been released (officially or otherwise) about the film’s plot or even its characters. The cast and grew gathered for an official press conference today at the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai. The event included director/producer Justin Lin, executive producer Jeffrey Chernov, writers Douglas Jung & Simon Pegg and actors Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and Idris Elba. Star Trek Las Vegas Convention Kicking It Up A Notch for the 50th Anniversary 5-day Event

The annual Star Trek convention at The Rio Suites Hotel in Las Vegas is going to be bigger and better than ever in 2016, the year commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first run of the Original Series. Creation Entertainment, hosts of the Vegas convention (among many others), sent out a press release teasing a “non-stop five-day convention” in August 2016 that will feature over 100 stars from television and movies and cater to thousands of guests.

Introducing Shuttle Pod – The TrekMovie Podcast: V’Ger v. Nomad

A few months ago, TrekMovie writer Jared Whitley made a casual comment that the TOS episode “The Changeling” was better than Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Fellow TM writer Brian Drew picked up the gauntlet Jared threw down, and the two decided to debate the respective merits of the two tales, which are similar in plot if not in tone, theme, or scope. To carry out the debate, we have inaugurated Shuttle Pod: The TrekMovie Podcast. Let us know in the comment section what you think about the debate and the idea of TM podcast in general.

Video Review – 1:537 USS Enterprise Cutaway model from Round 2

With the three-day holiday weekend now behind us (at least in the US), perhaps a new kind of labor is in order – one that involves plastic, hobby knives, styrene cement, and some spray paint. Marking 49 years of Star Trek, TrekMovie takes a look at the latest release from Round 2 Models, a take on the beauty that started it all, the 1:537 U.S.S. Enterprise Cutaway in this video preview of the kit.

Syfy’s Face Off tackles Star Trek

We’re into the ninth season of Syfy’s Face Off, which continues to be the network’s highest rated unscripted series. This week’s make-up theme is Star Trek, so I was eager to see where they took the challenge. The episode is in the series typical two challenge format, however this time the way they tie it back to Star Trek is that in the first round the contestants have to create an alien design based on a different background assigned to each person, and in the second they’re tasked to update it for a Next Generation era feel.
