LeVar Burton Reads New Audiobook Of Carl Sagan’s ‘Cosmos’

Audible has just released a brand new audiobook version of Carl Sagan’s classic Cosmos: A Personal Voyage. The new unabridged version is read by Star Trek: The Next Generation’s (and Reading Rainbow’s)  LeVar Burton.

Sagan’s Cosmos book (a companion to the original TV mini-series) won him a Hugo Award and spent over a year on the New York Times best seller list after its original publication in 1980. It is one of the best-selling science books of all time and – structured like the original TV series – tells the story of the evolution of the cosmos over the last fourteen billion years.

The classic Cosmos mini-series was revived in 2014 by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane and Star Trek vet Brannon Braga, with astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson as host. This new audiobook includes a new forward by Tyson as well as a new introduction read by MacFarlane. Speaking to Nerdist Cosmos co-writer and Carl Sagan’s widow Ann Druyan said, “To have Seth MacFarlane or Neil or LeVar Burton whispering in your brain the words of Carl Sagan and in some cases the words we wrote together, that is really cool.”

Audible has also released this behind-the-scenes video featuring Burton discussing and recording the new book.

You can buy the new Cosmos audiobook on Amazon or at as part of your subscription at Audible. You can get it for free and get a 30 day free trial by joining Audible (and help support TrekMovie) by visiting audibletrial.com/trekmovie.
