Guide To Star Trek Events And Celebrity Appearances in July

Summer is upon is and July brings a number of events and conventions of interest to Star Trek fans. The biggest one is of course San Diego Comic Con but there are a number of cons with Star Trek celebrity appearances including the fan-friendly Shore Leave convention which features a focus on Star Trek authors. There are also some Star Trek concerts around the world.

Renegades Premiere – North Hollywood, CA – July 12th

The independent series Renegades (formerly Star Trek: Renegades) will be showing their two part episode “Requiem” together as one feature movie at the Leammle Theater in North Hollywood, CA on July 12th. On hand will be a number of the films stars including Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols, Tim Russ, Robert Beltran, Manu Intiraymi, and Gary Graham. General Admission tickets are $20 but there are also VIP tickets that include photos with some of the stars. The event is being used as a fundraiser for the series. More info at Renegades.show.

Star Trek Live Concerts – Minneapolis, MN – July 13 & 14

Star Trek Live returns with The Minnesota Orchestra playing the score to J.J. Abrams’ 2009 Star Trek movie, with concerts in Minneapolis, MN on Thursday, July 13 and Friday, July 14. (Tickets at MinnesotaOrchestra.org.)

Day of the Dove in the Park – Seattle, WA – Weekends starting July 22nd

Hello Earth Productions is back with their Outdoor Trek productions of live performances of Star Trek in the Park. This year they are doing “Day of the Dove.” Performances are on Saturdays and Sundays at 7PM in Blanche Lavizzo Park starting July 22nd and running through to August 13th. Star Trek: Ultimate Voyage Concert – London, UK – July 23rd

Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage tour returns return to the UK with a concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London on July 23rd. More information and tickets are at SouthBankCentre.co.uk.

San Diego Comic-Con – San Diego, CA – July 20-23

Certainly the biggest geek event of the year is the annual Comic-Con International in San Diego. The full schedule has yet to be released but we do know there will be  panels on Saturday for Star Trek: Discovery and The Orville.  There will also be a number of Star Trek exclusives to buy from a number of licensees. And there will certainly be a number of Star Trek celebrities there doing signings and other Trek related activities.
