CBS has released a new web promo for Star Trek: Discovery. It is mostly a mashup of stuff seen before in previous promos but has a new voiceover. The title of the promo is “The age of Discovery is born.”

(Generic voiceover guy) The age of Discovery is born.

(Michael Burnham) “I am trying to save you. I am trying to save all of you.”

New bit of T’Kuvma talking “peace”

New Netflix international promo

Netflix also released a new promo today for their international audience. This is their version of the ‘Boldly Go’ promo that CBS released a couple of weeks ago.

“The media could not be played”

*Sigh* Good ol’ geoblocking.

It’s up on Instagram (which doesn’t seem to have region locks), just added link to it under embedded video.

Thanks for that ;)

That gave me goosebumps! Cannot wait!!

Me, as well. I found myself cautiously optimistic about STD (hehe), but I am really looking forward to this.

Will discovery be released all at once?

Weekly. More info on our Discovery overview page.

Does anyone else think that all of the space scenes being shown for Discovery are dark? It’s kind of hard to make out the objects.

Yeah, it’s too bad space isn’t more brightly lit.

Allow me to rephrase; I think the objects within the space scenes are rather dark (ships etc, debris, etc). It’s a stark contrast from the brightly lit TOS/TNG space scenes.

I don’t know if it’s on purpose but space shots should probably be much darker than they have usually been depicted on TREK. The ships should only be brightly lit when inside a star system and relatively close to the star. Otherwise, there would be no light source except for the ship itself.

You’re probably right, but I’m not watching dimly lit ship designs for the sake of scientific accuracy. I want to see the FX work well lit.

No problem: I agree that many VFX shots would probably look much less interesting if they were made scientifically accurate.

I feel the same way :( the FX are very muddy and hard to make out

omg….I just spit my drink out on my keyboard, hahahaha!

Looks soooi crap!

T’Kuvma of the House of Nos’Trel.

I saw Chris Obi guest star one episode on the English comedy-mystery series Death in Paradise. Spoiler: He didn’t do it. Which is a relief because everyone else I’ve seen from DSC has been a villain in what I saw. Jason Isaacs in Harry Potter movies of course. Michelle Yeoh as an evil North Korean operative in Strike Back. James Frain as the mass murderer in the Tunnel (English-French version of the Bridge). So naturally Chris Obi whom I saw as a good guy will be a villain on DSC ;-)

Why was it necessary to call the voice actor “generic?”

…decent promo…sinks at the end with the awful delivery of “I’m here to save you…” it’s delivered like a line recital in rehearsal. And she is the show’s focus…the star. Not sure she was the right person to carry this series. We’ll see.

Same scenes, different promo!!

Actually, this trailer is rather pleasant to watch and more Trek-like than the previous ones.

I was really Happy that I didn’t live in the US & didn’t have to deal with All Access to see just how Bad Discovery was since I already had Netflix, Now I hear that with CBS Buying our Channel 10 that Australia will now have to deal with the content wasteland that is All Access. No way I am paying to see the Discovery train wreck.
Although I will see it in the end.

Anyone know more about AAA- All Access Australia?
