Welcome back Discovery! Can’t wait to see what happens.

So finally the Frake’s episode. Episode 9, I saw 2 Discoveries when it jumped. Never seen that before. 2 ships interchanging? Mirror universe.

Frakes is directing this episode. Wasn’t it Frakes that let slip the spoiler about the mirror universe being included?

Yup.

Glad we have some Star Trek to talk about!

Very stoked, can’t wait!!
:)

If Riker shows up in the kitchen, I’ll plotz!

Haha!!! i just litterally spit water from laughing so hard.

Bwah!

I had no idea that photo was L’Rell. Never noticed to Kingdom of the Crystal Skull like heads for the new Klingons. A mistake IMHO.

At any rate, I’m prepared to resubscribe to CBSAA on the 12th. This just shows what a Star Trek nerd I am that I am willing to do all this garbage CBS is requiring just to see one show. I hope these last 6 episodes make it worth it.

garbage…like easily subscribe? lol

Also, if you never noticed her head before I question whether you watched any of the previous episodes.

I have to agree, without all the Klingon garb, they look even more like a completely new species. Still enjoy the show though.

I’m going to keep watching Discovery, but I just can’t get excited about it. Nothing about it has “grabbed me” yet, even though it is entertaining enough. Didn’t miss it during break either.

Sadly I have to admit while I’m happy its coming back, I didn’t really miss it either. I’m still on the fence about the show but I am looking forward to find out where the story is going next. And the mirror universe is always fun if its that.

Couldn’t agree more! I found the first half of the series extremely uninteresting storytelling, with unappealing characters. Hope it gets better.

I will of course watch it, I always will. But I’m not too enthused about it’s return. In my mind the first set of episodes were poor and not Star Trek.

If I were conspiracy minded, I would say that they repeatedly printed the names of every cast member in those photos to annoy us,
so that we wouldn’t notice any real
Possible spoilers.

Maybe Frakes can bring some extra touch of familiarity to proceedings, with his vast Trek experience in both acting and directing.

Hopefully he’ll do a great job — just as he did with the Orville!

@Capt Matt — frankly I was disappointed in his work on ORVILLE. It’s almost as if the DP forced him into the same uninteresting, static shots we’ve seen in every other episode. Not that it was bad, just that his work didn’t really stand out from anything else we’ve seen. And the difference is on ORVILLE, they’ve gone out of their way to make it more like TNG than something new and different, and still it turned out to be not as good as even an episode of TNG Frakes directed. He’s a competent director and I’m sure will do a good job no matter what. I just wouldn’t expect anything remarkable. DISC looks amazing, and has some truly great directing, already. If they’re as locked down by their routine as ORVILLE seems by their’s, then we’ll probably get a show that looks like the rest we’ve already seen.

DISC’s music is fantastic also.

There are occasional costuming hiccups, like L’Rell’s prisoner garb in the brig: WTF?

@DataMat — not sure that’s possible really. This is a brand new crew, already working under a different set of circumstances than any previous TNG era shows. And they’ve already done a good job making it feel like Trek for me. Not sure what Frakes could bring directorially. Likely he’ll learn a few things about this new incarnation of Trek than what he’s used to.

Why would I care about any of this? You don’t make it available on TV. Then why should I care about a TV show that doesn’t appear on TV

then why did you care enough to comment about something you don’t care about.

LOL. All I can say is, I’m grateful for friends who are Star Trek fans, who budgeted for CBSAA and are happy to share.

@Marja

I had a friend who was interested in sharing an account. But he backed out last minute as he said he didn’t have a “good feeling” about STD. The others I know refused to pay extra for a Star Trek TV show. Even sharing the cost. That left me to do it solo. So lucky you!

You clearly DO care if you are commenting on it.

ya, what they said

You must also hate Netflix.

Jay, I think the problem might be that you are still using VHF. Trying switching over to the UHF dial, wiggle the antennas a bit, and you may be able to pick the show up.

Welcome to 2018. I know you feel disoriented after your journey through the vortex, but we’re here to help you. Now, there have been a few changes since your time, some of which might be a bit hard to accept. I’m afraid that the things you saw referring to “President Trump” were actually real. We’re all shocked, too, believe me. In other changes, you’ll find that just about everybody carries a small computer with them and refers to it as a “phone” — yes, you can make calls with it, but there’s a lot more. Zoe here will be helping you with that. And one other small thing — most decent television is now delivered over something called the “Internet”. It’s a bit complicated, but Zoe will help you with that too. Don’t worry — in a few months you’ll feel right at home here in the 21st century!

CBS you really dropped the ball. You continue to show that started on TV decades ago. Now you’re telling those dedicated viewers that they have to go screw themselves just so they can continue to watch your show that they made famous

?

?

People in America really need to get over it being on CBSAA.

@Jay — did you just wake up from your coma you fell into after ENT was cancelled, and realized there was a new Trek series, and thing called streaming, which is the future of entertainment? Because this has already been discussed to death last year. Nothing new here. The boat has sailed and you missed it. Boy have you missed it …

Im still waiting for the guy to pop back in who claims streaming is a poor tech that rarely works and Netflix is only in business due to its DVD rentals. hahahaha

Anyone still complaining about streaming or paying a sub fee is really going to hate where things go in 2018…2019 etc. Or they will be thrilled to pay three different subs for Disney content because its Disney.

I’ll reply to this in depth when I get back from Blockbuster Video…

Wait, what? Cable has been around for decades now, and streaming, many years. While I’m sure there are holdouts out there who just know Beta will make a comeback and still have antenna’s on their roofs, the public has been paying for content for a long, long time now. No one is getting screwed here…

Didn’t Frakes say his episode was Mirror Universe? Theory confirmed.

Very nice. But I think, this will not be the evil mirror universe, rather another parallel, similar to Kelvin.

I think the universe they have been in may be another parallel universe similar to Kelvin!

Capt D,
That’s been my theory for some time. And Lorca’s the key.

Ugh, pictures of magic mushroom spore drive technobabble plot – easily the worst part of the series. Hopefully they surprise us with some exciting action in the mirror universe followed by some action in a still maturing fragile UFP at war with the Klingons. May the spore drive use up all the dilithium crystals that there is a shortage that must be dealt with or something.

Some of the best episodes from Enterprise and DS9 had great mirror universe episodes so I’m looking forward to what is done on Discovery. As for the spore drive, my guess is the spore drive will show the potential of crossing into parallel universe and even time travel.

If I wanted to watch a group of unlikeable, antagonistic characters, some of whom form a loosely associated group with very questionable loyalties to each other, at war with an opposing group of equally unlikeable characters bent on destruction, I could watch Star Trek Discovery and pay CBSAA. Or I could save my money and just read the comments on this board for free. Very similar.
Special Effects are better on Discovery though.

So are you trying to start that war? Good luck.

I’m reminded of Jason Isaacs in, of all things, ‘The End of the Affair’ . . . “you are a very good hater.”

Damn….that Ash Tyler sure has a strangely elongated head. Almost as elongated as…..uh oh…..

He … has … no … chin!

It seems they picked out the most nondescript pictures that they could find within this episode (just the main cast talking to each other – and Stamets not feeling very well, but we knew that already), so that nobody will be able to prematurely determine if this is indeed the Mirror Universe episode or not…

Keeping suspense alive until Sunday, Bird.

At least it’s not that frikkin’ Magic Box JJ Abrams is so nuts about.

The more I look at these uniforms the more I like them. They’re gorgeous, professional-looking, and I hope for the actors’ sake that they’re comfortable!
