USS Discovery Has Surprising Encounter In New ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Clip

On Thursday afternoon CBS held a Facebook Live event for Star Trek: Discovery showing a time-lapse of the construction of the sets of the USS Discovery. Unlike previous time-lapse videos released, this one was quite lengthy, clocking in at over 37 minutes. However, if you were patient and watched all the way until the end you were rewarded with a 1 minute clip from this weekend’s episode of Discovery, titled “Despite Yourself.”

The video cannot be embedded so you have to visit the official CBS Star Trek: Discovery Facebook page to see it. You can skip ahead to the last -1:15 mark to see the clip (NOTE: video is region locked to USA-only).

Vulcan cruiser approaches the USS Discovery

The clip shows what is likely the opening of the episode, picking up immediately after the end of episode 9, with the USS Discovery seemingly lost following a failed spore drive jump to what should have been Starbase 46. The crew are in a debris field where they encounter a Vulcan cruiser, which fires on the Discovery for some unknown reason.

If you haven’t already seen them, check out 10 new photos from episode 10.

Episode 10 of Star Trek: Discovery will be available on CBS All Access on Sunday, January 7th by 8:30 pm ET. It will air in Canada on the Space Channel at 8:00 pm ET the same day and be available on Netflix outside the USA and Canada on Monday, January 8th at 8 am BST.

Keep up with all the Star Trek: Discovery news at TrekMovie.

First…for realz?

Ugh, you have to have Facebook to view it. I’d rather have shingles than Facebook. At least herpes doesn’t make me look at my coworkers’ ugly kids or paranoid uncle’s latest conspiracy theory.

What on Earth……..?

I second that! (the original post not the respondent(s))

Well, I think that gives a big hint as to where Discovery is now…

Another Vulcan hello?

Definitely mistook it as a Terran warship.*wink*

Now that’s more like it. The pics they released suggested more of the same dull, talky stuff from the first half of the season, and my enthusiasm was really taking a hit. But this has me intrigued. They should have included this clip at the end of the last ep — it’s a much better cliffhanger than simply not knowing where they are.

Yeah, this is definitely the mirror universe.

all we know is it is more than likely an alternate universe, not “mirror”

And here we thought that Empress Sato had eliminated all the Rebels… sigh… how inefficient…

I’m sure it will never happen, but I’d love to see Linda Park return as an elderly Empress Sato.

How about a Mirror-Sarek? They have ruled out an appearance of Spock, so the next famous vulcan would be the mirror-universe version of Sarek.

Perhaps the Vulcan ship is a Terran Empire ship full of Vulcan slaves.

Of COURSE it’s region locked,no surprise there. lol! YT it is then,as always. Actually,in the US right now, lol, but not logging in to fb to watch it,so much easier to just YT it. Good clip, hope it’s another good episode tonight.
