Star Trek Online Brings Jason Isaacs Back As Captain Lorca In ‘Rise Of Discovery’

The free-to-play MMORPG Star Trek Online continues to explore the world of the CBS All Access series Star Trek: Discovery with their latest update, which features Jason Isaacs and Rekha Sharma.

Isaacs and Sharma return for Rise of Discovery

Today, Perfect World and Cryptic Studios announced Star Trek Online’s next major update, Rise of Discovery, will launch on PC May 14 and later on consoles. The update includes new missions featuring Captain Gabriel Lorca (voiced by Jason Isaacs) and Commander Ellen Landry (Rekha Sharma). Star Trek Online players will fight alongside the U.S.S. Buran and learn what happened to both Lorca and Landry before they joined the crew of the U.S.S Discovery. Rise of Discovery also introduces a brand new reputation and a ship system update that scales all Tier 6 starships to individual player levels, granting all captains access to the game’s finest vessels.

After the first season of Star Trek: Discovery drew to an exciting close, many fans were left with unanswered questions about Gabriel Lorca. Star Trek Online players can now uncover the truth behind the Federation captain’s past through the eyes of his trusted commanding officer, Ellen Landry. Rise of Discovery takes place when both Lorca and Landry were assigned to the U.S.S. Buran, before they beamed aboard the U.S.S. Discovery. Players answer a distress call from the Federation starship after it sustains heavy damage from Klingon forces led by J’Ula, the matriarch of House Mo’Kai. The attack leaves its sole survivor, Captain Lorca, stranded on a desolate ice moon littered with Klingon search parties. His fate now lies in the hand of Star Trek Online players, who must team up with Commander Landry to ensure his survival.

Rise of Discovery features two new episodes, voiced by Star Trek: Discovery’s very own Jason Isaacs and Rekha Sharma. The update also introduces a new Tier 6 reputation—Discovery Legends—which allows players to earn Discovery-themed rewards by completing Task Force Operations. Starting May 14, all of Star Trek Online’s Tier 6 starships will be converted to player level-less scaling, allowing Captains with varying experience to command these powerful vessels at any time.

I saw “Jason Isaacs” and got super-pumped. Alas! My household had hoped so very much that Prime Lorca was somehow still alive and he’d pop up on Discovery. At this point the only possibility is the Section 31 series, and that’s assuming it’s set in the 23rd century and not the future (which isn’t a safe bet seeing as Georgiou traveled into the future just now).

Did she? Seems I did not pay too much attention to that episode.

Discovery will return to the 23d sooner or later.

Agreed. It makes sense for the ship to be sent back in time again to fit in with Calypso and who better to pilot it back than the star of Section 31.

He seems a likely candidate for the Section 31 show as Prime Lorca potentially has some history with Emperor Georgiou from his time on the other side. Also given the clandestine nature of the organisation there’s far more scope for incursions into the Mirror Universe. Also Kurtzman has gone on record as saying that the show will document how it went from a relatively out in the open organisation in the 23rd century to the hidden group we saw in DS9 so it’s a pretty safe bet it’s not set in the 32nd century.

Lorca is the best captain in Star Trek. Forget Two lights Pike, give us a Captain Lorca show.

There! Are! 4! Lights!

Could we find that prime Lorca got transferred to the 33rd centuary?

Lorca was good but Pike is better at everything else.

Wow it just hit me I guess we will never see them find Lorca after all now. He can still pop up on Section 31 or something but I’m not going to assume every single former character that was on Discovery will just show on that show too. But it is possible I guess.

He would actually be a better fit for Section 31 as that show can more easily go back to the MU plus there’s a potential for conflict between Lorca and Georgiou as he was possibly incarcerated by her.

So does anyone know what happened to Prime Lorca?

Just looking at this image with Lorca and whats her face Tory beside him, that first season of Disco already looks so…old. Like a time when Trek was super dark and gimmicky about it. Like those characters were horrible, in both universes in the woman’s case.
