‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Season 2 Soundtrack Details

The soundtrack to Season Two of Star Trek: Discovery is coming later this month. Lakeshore Records will release the Star Trek: Discovery 2—Original Series Soundtrack featuring music from season 2 series (plus music from Short Treks ‘The Escape Artist”) digitally on Friday, July 19. A physical media release on vinyl (and presumedly CD) will follow at an unspecified date.

Slashfilm got the track details and exclusive sample of “Time Traveler” (Burnham’s music as she jumps back through time to light the red bursts throughout the second season).

Composer Jeff Russo commented on the season two score saying:

Star Trek: Discovery continues to be a source of incredible musical inspiration for me. This season’s swashbuckling has allowed the music to shine and grow in ways that I didn’t expect.

Hopefully it comes to Spotify :)

Season one is on Spotify so presumably so

Same here. I love the music from the series.

Gosh, what a lot you get! (and I mean that most sincerely…)

I’ll certainly be buying this!

MY favorite theme of the season :)

I love how Russo weaves in instrumentation and tiny quotes of music from TOS [just enough to remind me a little of TOS], and I believe I hear some brief references to Giacchino’s score for the AU/KT films, too, which — for me — “unifies” today’s Trek in a wonderful way. I must look that S1 score up on Spotify!

There are actually two album’s worth of Season One music on Spotify!

I gotta ask, does anybody buy Star Trek soundtracks? And why??

I do. Because I enjoy listening to them. I have a lot of movie scores on vinyl, cassette, CDs, MP3, etc. Why else would anyone buy them?

I just bought the fifteen disc box set of The Original Series soundtrack from La-La Land Records.

Why? Well, some of the tracks I’m going to use in an upcoming project. I also bought them because they’re legit classical works of music. When I listen to these discs, I am transported back in time to when I was seven years old and frantically rushed home from school to catch the latest rerun of Star Trek.

But mostly, I bought the box set because I’m a 55-year-old computer nerd with disposable income who enjoys having Star Trek playing in the background while I work. Sue me. :D

Well said, Scott. I’m a 45-year-old astrophysics nerd who enjoys playing Star Trek music while making observations, coding, data analysis, etc.

Cuz they epic

I own CD’s of most of the film scores, and one of the TOS compilations and one of the TNG episodes. Why? Why does anyone buy music? Because they are enjoyable and are a good listen. I would think this answer would be self evident.

Just give me track 36, thanks.

If you’re just interested in the end credits you can take those from the episode. Shouldn’t have dialog over it.

Search Youtube for it.

Does anyone have a list of these tracks matched with their episode? Someone was kind enough to provide one for the season 1 soundtrack and I would sure appreciate it for this one.
