Look, other than the episode where Picard visits with Riker and Troi, and the one where Picard and Data say goodbye, who would want to watch the other episodes more than once?

Millions of fans.

Millions???

Agreed, Harry. The paid CBS shills that hang out here will surely tell us how millions of people will buy these. You know, just like the millions of people that bought TNG remastered and Discovery discs.

If you think anyone here is a paid fan… well, you’re an imbecile.

Indeed.

Fred, I guess some people are easily satisfied, while others are a little more discerning in their taste.

Everyone who doesn’t like what I like and/or dislike what I dislike is a philistine and will not be invited to my birthday.

Who can argue with logic like THAT?

He’s mocking you. If you were perhaps more discerning, you might have realized it.

Well, duh!

If YOU were perhaps more discerning, you would have realized he was being sarcastic.

And if YOU were perhaps more discerning, you’d have noticed that so was I, by throwing his own words back at him. Gheez. So many dysfunctional people here.

So many dysfunctional people here.”

It’s a TREK forum, right? The cool kids are over at The Jedi Council!

So anyone who feels differently than you is less discerning. Wow. Dysfunctional types like you, disconnected from reality, are the reason The Simpsons created Comic Book Guy.

Worst comment EVER!

OK, I admit it–that was clever.

(doing my happy dance) :-)

Is it even possible for you to express yourself without throwing insults?

Certainly.

Maybe some people will buy it by accident.

Um me… love this show… stardust city rag best episode… they’re all super great… series is amazing… ive seen the show 3 times and can’t wait for a 4th round… loved it the first time but it gets better in repeat viewings… maybe because the impatience people had waiting is no longer there? don’t know. series is awesome!!!!!

Oooookay Alex… dial it down a little, then it’ll be more believable ;)

huh? what are you talking about? if someone likes star trek they are lying? or am i misreading that?

Me. Emphatically, actually. Don’t project your distaste onto other

Harry, to answer your question, I hear the limited edition comes with a complimentary Klingon pain stick for self flagellation, to make the watching experience (especially episode 5) THAT much more masochistic ;)

Why didn’t you say so in the first place, Vulcan Soul? You had me at “self flagellation”!

Agreed, Harry.

Just in time!

Forcing fans to pay extra money to get deleted scenes and gag reels, which have always been part of standard releases, is crap.

In the UK it’s still possible we might have to buy the blu-ray just to get ‘Children of Mars’!

Why? Because you want it for free… Deleted scenes makes buying it worthwhile.

Who said anything about it being for free? Pay attention.

Haha, that is what I thought too – I really liked S1, but why not just make one version of the release and saw the price off at $41.95?

Ok here we are the night before virtual SDCC Home. Let’s see what what CBSAA has in store for us tomorrow! Enjoy the panels everyone!

A bit expensive which seems silly because all that will mean is low sales on the days of streaming. 10 episodes and a trinket of extra features does not at all make the asking price appropriate IMO.

I don’t buy DVDs anymore but might get this one. Picard was a really good Star Trek experience.

I can’t see buying the discs for our household for these series until multi-season series compilations are available.

But I may ask our public library to buy this so that we and other families can enjoy it.

I actually enjoyed the entire season EXCEPT the finale. While it had great moments the ending was horrible. Come to think of it, while I have enjoyed most of this new brand of Trek, they have yet to stick the landing. The first season of Discovery (which I loved BTW), in true TNG fashion, tried to tie up the whole Klingon war in an hour, and it was horrible. The second season got bogged down in the entity and all that – forgetting the entire science versus faith theme, which was NOT satisfying, and then there’s Picard. WTF?

I agree with you. PICARD had some great moments throughout the season, but then that finale happened.

We’ve found the finale really works well as a two-part episode, but not when you are watching it right after the earlier episodes.

There are two many unresolved threads like the XBorgs for it to work well as the culmination of the season.

But taken on its own, it works. Just give it a month or so after watching episode 8.

disagree… loved the entire run… but i did think the ending to the core story went quick… that’s typical with trek… buildup a great story and journey then plop it ends… i mean almost every tng story ends in like 5 minutes… but the ending with data i thought was phenomenal. what a great show.

Yeah, that’s kind of where I am. The finale felt like someone got an 11th hour note from on high that the stakes weren’t high enough, threw every sci-fi trope the writers’ room could think up on short notice into a blender, and hit frappe. And to hell with coherency, emotional payoff, or narrative follow-through.

Though, really, the hope that the deleted scenes can offer some kind of insight as to what the audience was *supposed* to take away from those last three-ish hours of the series is probably going to get me to buy the steelbook. So win-win for CBS, I guess. :P

Yeah, I agree, this seems to be an unfortunate trend with Kurtzmans shows. He seems to launch them fine but the endings don’t seem to stick. I wonder if they should maybe consider having fully 2 hour finale episodes to make the flow much better. I mean in streaming they shouldn’t have any time limitations for the episodes right? Just have like a 100-105 minute episode for the finale and have everything tie up neatly and have everything flow in a more measured pace.

woooooooo… i’ve seen it 3 times on cbsaa but i have some friends that have been waiting for the bluray. what a great show. cast is amazing… michelle hurd is spectacular… there’s so much going on in this season… funny, sad, exciting… oh that kid elnor is so adorable… rios is so good and i love the emh’s… chabon and goldsman and kristen beyer did such a great job. smart modern. the ending is heartbreaking and wonderful.

can you tell i love this show? lol

what is so heartwarming with the series is that it didn’t pander to old trek fans and make a weak rehash of TNG and that formula… it was brave enough to go modern and pushed the edge… so impressed

oh and 7/9 really was spectacular… hopefully she’s all in season 2

It’s a shame the Ready Room episodes from Facebook aren’t included. I thought they were well done and a great addition to the episodes. Wil Wheaton did a great job hosting too. Oh well.

Hopefully they’re saving The Ready Room for the Ultra Deluxe Special Edition that they’ll inevitably want us to buy again next year!

I hated most of this season, but I own every other Trek ever made. So I guess the obsessive tendencies will win out again. Yuck.

Great, but the price is pretty high.

Man, I kinda want to buy it just to support Star Trek, notwithstanding the fact that the show was absolute rubbish of 10 hours which should have been less than 2 hours.

There were some things about Picard S1 I liked. There were some things I loved. There were some things I was “meh” about. There were some things I hated.

Will I buy this Blu-ray when it comes out? Oh who am I kidding? Of course I will.

imo piacrd season one is rubbish, the riker episode was great , but the rest was just wrong, again imo , they rushed the start and finish but was aimless for must of it , swearing was not needed, the level of action was to much,eg ripping out a eye with the charactor was screeming , choping people heads off , words can not express how i feel about what they have done to starfleet , as for picard they have taken a strong charactor and turned hin into a wimp who there to beat up on
