Axanar, Studios Settle Star Trek Copyright Infringement Lawsuit

With the copyright infringement trial just 11 days away, Star Trek fan film Axanar producer Alec Peters settled with plaintiffs CBS and Paramount Pictures. The terms of the settlement, announced today, require that Peters admit “overreaching” and allow for a scaled-back production of Axanar as two 15-minute films that conform to all of the studios’ fan film guidelines announced last June.



Axanar Asks Star Trek Directors and Studio For Documents in Ongoing Lawsuit

The lawsuit brought by the owners of Star Trek, CBS and Paramount, against fan film Axanar and its creator Alec Peters has started to heat up once again. Axanar‘s lawyers have filed a Motion to Compel Discovery, which asks CBS and Paramount to produce documents including financial statements, salaries for actors and crew from every Star Trek episode and film ever produced, and statements in support of Axanar made by Kelvin timeline directors J.J. Abrams and Justin Lin.


CBS, Paramount Say Axanar Lawsuit Isn’t Over, Move on to Discovery

Despite the announcement by JJ Abrams that Paramount and CBS would be seeking to end the lawsuit brought against Star Trek fan film Axanar and its creator Alec Peters, the studios are pushing on with the suit, which has moved on to the discovery phase. In a statement, the studios confirmed that the legal action against Axanar and Peters “remains pending”.

Star Trek Prelude to Axanar, the 20 minute preview to the full fan film Star Trek Axanar, debuted on the big screen during a red carpet event last weekend during San Diego Comic-Con. Today, the short film is available for all to watch streaming online and serves as the Kickstarter video for the recently launched new fundraising campaign to raise money for the full-length 90 minute feature film Axanar (which has already met its first goal). Fan Films: “Prelude to Axanar” Trailer Released

The team from Prelude to Axanar, a Trek fan film that raised over $100k on its Kickstarter just this March, has released its first teaser trailer. The film boasts an impressive cast and crew, including Richard Hatch, Michael Hogan, JG Hertzler, and Gary Graham (reprising his role as Vulcan ambassador Soval). The visual effects artist, Tobias Richter, really shows his chops in this nearly three minute trailer. The graphics and cinematography are impressive; can the full length film live up to the trailer? Fan Films: “Prelude to Axanar” is poised to begin production

What do Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica), Michael Hogan (Battlestar Galactica, Teen Wolf, Supernatural), JG Herztler (DS9, Voyager, Enterprise), and Gary Graham (Alien Nation, Voyager, Enterprise) have in common? Their Star Trek: Prelude to Axanar project, which has now blown past the $50,000 mark on Kickstarter. The latest entrant into the flourishing Star Trek fan film space, Prelude is being filmed in early May in Los Angeles as a short film which will lead into their full length Star Trek: Axanar feature film slated to begin production later this year. Prelude takes place some 13 years before TOS and explores the story leading up to the Battle of Axanar. The Klingon Empire and Federation find themselves engaged in a pitched battle over the planet Axanar, leading both to the bring of all out war.


New Fan Film ‘Star Trek: Axanar’ To Tell Story of Garth Of Izar Battling Klingons Lead by BSG’s Richard Hatch

There is another interesting fan production in development, this time set before the original Star Trek series and focusing on another famous starship captain, Garth of Izar. The new series is called "Star Trek: Axanar" and it is being developed by a team that includes some members of the Star Trek Phase II series. The "web feature" also has just cast BSG star Richard Hatch who plays the main Klingon antagonist. Find out more about Axanar below.









BREAKING: “Star Trek: Discovery” To Be Set 10 Years Before TOS, Will Feature Female Lead, Gay Character

Star Trek: Discovery showrunner Bryan Fuller revealed today that the new series will be set ten years before The Original Series, essentially bridging the gap between Enterprise and TOS. The show will focus on an event in Federation history that has been talked about but never explored. Fuller also confirmed that the show will feature a human female lead (a lieutenant commander, not a captain), a gay character, and lots of aliens.
