Today, Star Trek: The Exhibition opened its second engagement in the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix, Arizona to plenty of eager fans. TrekMovie got an exclusive first look at the impressive traveling Trek exhibit, including being shown around by Mike and Denise Okuda. With tons of original costumes, prop replicas, and set recreations, fans and non-fans alike are sure to be engaged by this very well put together show.

Last month we reported that Star Trek The Experience (which closed its doors at the Las Vegas Hilton in September) may be resurrected at a new location. Since that time TrekMovie as well as local Las Vegas journalists have confirmed that Star Trek The Experience is moving to a new home at Neonopolis, in downtown Las Vegas. Today some new details have emerged.

Over the summer Star Trek The Tour (which opened and closed in Long Beach in the Spring), was re-born as Star Trek The Exhibition with the first stop opened in San Diego in June. At the time we reported that there would actually be two concurrent exhibitions going and now the second one has been announced, kicking off in Phoenix, Arizona in November.

Just last month Star Trek The Experience closed its gate at the Las Vegas Hilton for the last time, but now there is new hope. Back in July when CBS officially announced the closure they hinted they were working on bringing it back, and it appears that they may have succeeded in finding a new home for Trek’s premiere attraction.

TrekMovie has been informed that Joan ("Joannie") Winston, one of the founders of the first Star Trek conventions and author of "The Making of the Star Trek Conventions," passed away September 11th at age 77. According to her family, Joan died in her sleep at an assisted living center in New York.

In just four days, on Monday September 1st, Star Trek The Experience will close its gates for the last time. Leonard Nimoy helped them unveil this exciting new massive multiplayer Star Trek game. Just like they did last year, Paramount has chosen Creation’s official Star Trek convention to give fans a new poster for JJ Abrams’ Star Trek. Actually they are giving fans eight posters; the four that were given out at Comic Con and four new ones in the same style but with the rest of the main crew from the film. Tomorrow Cryptic Studios holds their "Star Trek Online Revealed" panel at the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention (with a little help from Leonard Nimoy), but some details of this new MMORPG have already emerged. Cryptic’s Chief Creative Officer gave a pre-show interview to the AP that provided some details, plus CBS showed a few new screenshots at their Products presentation on Friday.

VegasCon 08: New Official Star Trek Fan Club Announced August 8, 2008

Today at the official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, CBS announced that a new official Star Trek fan club will be launched by the end of the year. Details are sketchy for now, but CBS promised more details to come next month and have launched a new website to gather fan input on this new venture. In related news, Dan Madsen, who ran the previous fan club, is involved in a new fan venture that is partnering with Roddenberry.com

The official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas kicked off Wednesday with a gaggle of guest stars spanning the Trek series, including John deLancie, Robin Curtis and Denise Crosby. They all delighted mostly filled main auditorium with insights, jokes, and at times some serious discussions about their times on Star Trek.
