TrekMovie’s Guide To Kirk Fu

We’ve seen some of the new Captain Kirk’s fighting sprit in some of the new trailers, and according to his Dossier, the new Kirk is an instructor in hand-to-hand combat. This all fits with grand Star Trek history, and so with that in mind, TrekMovie has taken a look back at the original Kirk fight moves in a little something we like to call: TrekMovie’s official guide to Kirk-Fu.

Sunday Mashup: Even More Star Trek Mistakes

If there is one thing that Trekkies love to talk about it is ‘continuity’ (or the much more biblical sounding ‘canon’). Although the history of Trek holds together pretty well, the record is not spotless, as was highlighted in two past ‘Star Trek Mistakes’ mashups posted here last October. Now Roman B (aka GeneralGrin) has let us know about parts three and four of his ongoing opus.

Family Guy: Wrath of Khan? – TrekMovie Helps Cast It

Yesterday at the Fox’s animation panel during the 2008 Television Critics Association confab, Family Guy creator (and well known Star Trek fan) Seth MacFarlane told reporters he would like to create a Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan parody similar to the Family Guy parody of  Star Wars from 2007. TrekMovie thinks this is a great idea and thought we would lend a hand.

If you haven’t seen it, the CBS sitcom “Big Bang Theory” is a show about four nerdy scientists that is rife with references to comic books, sci-fi and especially “Star Trek.” The official show synopsis on CBS.com even refers to ‘Klingon Boggle.’ This week’s episode opened with a discussion of the new Star Trek movie. See video of that and more below.

Star Trek mash-ups on YouTube are ubiquitous and one sub-genre is alternative opening credit sequences (and a sub-sub-genre is credits made to mimic another show). So check out some of these ‘two great shows that taste great together’ mash-ups below.

Kissing Goodbye To Shatner As Kirk?

In the last week we have learned that William Shatner is probably not going to be in the next Star Trek movie and a week from now we may very well know who the next Kirk will be. Regardless sometime soon Kirk will be embodied by a new actor and Shatner will be a bit like Sean Connery to the Bond franchise (beloved, but not the ‘current’ star). So for our Friday Night Movie it feels appropriate to give our favorite captain one last big kiss.
