In yet another mainstream accolade, the December issue of GQ magazine celebrates the return of Star Trek by naming Chris Pine and the Star Trek team as men of the year (in two categories). We have photos below, plus some excerpts and an additional MTV interview with Pine and Abrams.
Everyone wants to know what is going to happen in the Star Trek sequel. At the Star Trek DVD/Blu-ray launch party TrekMovie had a moment to talk to JJ Abrams. One aspect of the new Star Trek movie that received universal acclaim is the sound design, and that much of that was due to Oscar-winner (and Star Wars vet) Ben Burtt. Last week, The Hollywood Post Alliance honored Burtt with their Charles S. Swartz Award, presented to him by JJ Abrams. Yesterday TrekMovie put up the first part of our exclusive interview with JJ Abrams, talking about his Star Trek movie and the home video release. Today we finish off the the interview, talking to Abrams about the sequel, including his thoughts on “going deeper”, the engineering sets and his best guess at a release date.
Back in early 2007 one of the possible projects being touted as JJ Abrams next directorial efforts was an adaptation of Stephen King’s "Dark Tower" series. At the time Abrams and fellow Star Trek producer Damon Lindelof confirmed they were working with King on an adaptation. However, now Abrams has stated that this big project still isn’t something imminent.
Star Trek director/producer JJ Abrams continues to build his portfolio of projects in development. Today its being reported that Abrams is producing a movie based on the Micronauts toy line. The Star Trek sequel continues to be in the early stages and according to JJ Abrams, the notion of bringing back Khan is still possible. In a new interview snippet at MTV, the producer and possible director of the sequel talks about the possibility of recasting Trek’s ultimate villain.

Tomorrow night Spike TV airs their Scream Awards, and as we reported last weekend, JJ Abrams new Star Trek film does very well. We now have some clips from the show, where you can see William Shatner on stage accepting an award for the movie and talking to JJ Abrams about how he isn’t in it.
The Spike Scream Awards were taped in Los Angeles Saturday night (to air Tuesday October 27th). The new Star Trek movie started the night with the most nominations and walked away with a few awards, including the top prize of "Ultimate Scream" as well as Best Sci-Fi Film. Today is the 43rd birthday of Star Trek producer/director Jeffrey Jacob ‘JJ’ Abrams. The man behind Lost, Alias, Felicity, Fringe, MI3, Cloverfield and much more joined the Star Trek universe 3 years ago, and he was a welcome addition to the family. So happy birthday JJ, and many more.
As reported earlier, JJ Abrams attended the Saturn Awards on Wednesday night to honor Leonard Nimoy (where he was asked about Trek’s future). Last night the 35th annual Saturn Awards were held in Los Angeles honoring the world of science fiction. The big winner of the night was The Dark Knight, with Star Trek eligible for next year’s awards. But Trek was still there as Leonard Nimoy was given a lifetime achievement award, presented by JJ Abrams, who also made some comments about the next Star Trek film.
Last week we reported that JJ Abrams had been asked by Tom Cruise to produce a fourth film in the Mission: Impossible series.
