One aspect of the new Star Trek movie that received universal acclaim is the sound design, and that much of that was due to Oscar-winner (and Star Wars vet) Ben Burtt. Last week, The Hollywood Post Alliance honored Burtt with their Charles S. Swartz Award, presented to him by JJ Abrams. Abrams & Lindelof Not Working On Dark Tower Adaptation

Back in early 2007 one of the possible projects being touted as JJ Abrams next directorial efforts was an adaptation of Stephen King’s "Dark Tower" series. At the time Abrams and fellow Star Trek producer Damon Lindelof confirmed they were working with King on an adaptation. However, now Abrams has stated that this big project still isn’t something imminent.

Star Trek Takes Home Top Spike Scream Awards – Shatner Makes Surprise Appearance [UPDATED

The Spike Scream Awards were taped in Los Angeles Saturday night (to air Tuesday October 27th). The new Star Trek movie started the night with the most nominations and walked away with a few awards, including the top prize of "Ultimate Scream" as well as Best Sci-Fi Film. New Paramount Film Deals For JJ Abrams & Chris Pine – Is There Still Time For Star Trek Sequel in 2011?

The trades are reporting that Star Trek producer/director JJ Abrams has put yet another film into development, with a $2M script purchase. Today is the 43rd birthday of Star Trek producer/director Jeffrey Jacob ‘JJ’ Abrams. The man behind Lost, Alias, Felicity, Fringe, MI3, Cloverfield and much more joined the Star Trek universe 3 years ago, and he was a welcome addition to the family. So happy birthday JJ, and many more.

JJ Abrams Presents Leonard Nimoy With Lifetime Achievement Saturn Award & Talks Trek Sequel

Last night the 35th annual Saturn Awards were held in Los Angeles honoring the world of science fiction. The big winner of the night was The Dark Knight, with Star Trek eligible for next year’s awards. But Trek was still there as Leonard Nimoy was given a lifetime achievement award, presented by JJ Abrams, who also made some comments about the next Star Trek film.



Tom Cruise Wants JJ Abrams To Produce Mission Impossible 4

JJ Abrams first feature film as a director was Mission: Impossible: III back in 2006. After the film’s release there was a falling out between Tom Cruise and Paramount pictures, however more recently things have thawed and in the last year Cruise has been talking up a fourth entry in the franchise. Now it appears that JJ Abrams has been asked to produce MI:4.
