This weekend the New York Times Magazine has an extensive feature on Star Trek producer/director JJ Abrams. While there isn’t anything new about the Star Trek sequel in the article, there are some interesting insights into his life, his process, and why Paramount Pictures is willing to change schedules around to accommodate him. It also offers a glimpse into the mysterious new offices for Abrams’ Bad Robot production company.

New Trailers For JJ Abrams Alcatraz & Brannon Braga’s Terra Nova + Fox Announces Schedule

Fox is making Monday into time-travel night for their next season, with two shows produced by Star Trek vets. Today Fox Broadcasting announced their full schedule for the 2011/2012 season along with releasing trailers for their new shows, including JJ Abrams’ Alcatraz and Brannon Braga’s Terra Nova. The cast and crew of the Star Trek movie have been busy this week – on their other projects. Fox has announced some of the dramas they will be picking up for the next season, including JJ Abrams sci-fi show Alcatraz. Fox is also still looking at another show from Star Trek scribes Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. In addition. Star Trek’s Zachary Quinto is producing his second movie.

New Previews For Orci/Kurtzman/Lindelof’s Cowboys & Aliens + Leonard Nimoy on Fringe

Last night if you watched American Idol on FOX you would have caught previews of a couple of things related to the world of Star Trek. FOX Renews Fringe With Full Season Order + Star Trek: DS9 Reference On Hawaii Five-0

Fringe, the FOX sci-fi show from Star Trek’s JJ Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, has been renewed for a fourth season. Despite lower ratings and a move to Friday, Fox is still firmly behind the show, giving it a full season order. Bruce Greenwood Cast In ABC Pilot “The River” + Trek Producers Have 5 Pilots In Production

It is pilot seasons in Hollywood, with actors all scrambling for roles. One Star Trek star who has nabbed a big one is Bruce Greenwood, aka Captain (now Admiral) Pike from Star Trek 2009 who has signed on to the ABC drama The River.
