The big Star Trek book event of 2008 is the crossover ‘Destiny’ trilogy by David Mack. Destiny brings together Jean Luc Picard and the USS Enterprise, William Riker on USS Titan, along with ties to both DS9 and even Enterprise. Thursday at Creation's official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas had a good mix of series regulars like TNG's Brent Spiner and Marina Sirts, to fan favorite guest stars like Grace Lee Whitney, Michelle Forbes and Majel Roddenberry. The official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas kicked off Wednesday with a gaggle of guest stars spanning the Trek series, including John deLancie, Robin Curtis and Denise Crosby. They all delighted mostly filled main auditorium with insights, jokes, and at times some serious discussions about their times on Star Trek.

Fans Banned From Bringing Trek Memorabilia To Stewart’s Play July 24, 2008

The Royal Shakespeare Company may want sci-fi fans to show up to see their production of Hamlet starring Star Trek The Next Generation’s Patrick Stewart and Doctor Who’s David Tennant, but apparently they don’t want fans to bring any of their stuff. Although they are allowing autographs, the producers have banned the signing of any Trek or Who memorabilia.

TNG’s Picard recently finished his Tony-nominated Broadway run in Macbeth and is now preparing for Hamlet where he will play Claudius across from David Tennent (Doctor Who) as Hamlet. New Projects From Trek Producers – Past and Present June 17, 2008

This week there is a lot of new project news coming from producers who have worked on Trek. Star Trek director/producer JJ Abrams has bought the rights to make a movie about a ‘mysterious’ apartment. Voyager writer/producer Kenneth Biller has signed on to be the showrunner on a new fantasy TV series with Enterprise writer/producer Mike Sussman in talks to help out. And TNG/DS9 writer/producer Hans Beimler’s new show premiered last night.

VIDEO: Shatner & Stewart On Sunday Award Shows + Takei On Morning Show June 16, 2008

On Sunday night both of Trek’s most famous captains could be seen on TV award shows. Stewart was a nominee at the live broadcast on CBS of the Tony Awards (he lost…awww), and William Shatner was seen presenting an award at a taped broadcast of the TV Land Land Awards (um…on TV Land). We got video of both plus a bonus Takei video too.

Starting with a spec script for Next Generation in 1989, Moore racked up 61 Trek writing credits (2nd only to Brannon Braga), spanning three series and two feature films.
