Art at its best is when it evokes emotions out of people who are experiencing the words and images, especially when it affects people in a positive or cathartic way. The writing staff for Star Trek Continues added another extraordinary episode to their oeuvre with “Come Not Between the Dragons”, which addresses domestic abuse from all points of view. Once again, the writer demonstrates his deeper understanding of what Star Trek can accomplish when it is used to comment on the world at large. Star Trek Continues
After three critically acclaimed episodes (and one more just in the can), the award-winning webseries, Star Trek Continues, today launched their second Kickstarter, dubbed “Kirkstarter 2.0”, to help fund two (or maybe more) new episodes and possibly build some new sets if stretch goals are reached. After only 12 hours, they’ve already raised over $40K, well on their way to their $100K goal.
This year the Geekie Awards, the award show for geeks by geeks, crowned LeVar Burton as “Geek of the Year”. The hit fan series Star Trek Continues also took home the win for the Best Web Series. UPDATE: Official video of LeVar Burton receiving his Geekie and singing Reading Rainbow to the crowd
The crew of Star Trek Continues has released their latest episode and this time they boldly take on Mirror Mirror, one of the favorite TOS episodes. Spock with a beard and Uhura (and the other female crewmembers with bare midriffs) in a galaxy ruled not by Starfleet, but by the evil Terran Empire.
The first two episodes of a new behind the scenes documentary take you onto the set of Star Trek Continues. Wired and Condé Nast Entertainment were on set for the filming of episode 3, “Fairest of Them All”. Producer Vic Mignogna takes you on a tour of what director James Kerwin calls “the fourth season of The Original Series”. The set designers, costume designers, makeup artists, editors, and everyone involved with the shooting have taken every step to ensure that the episodes of STC look and feel like something shot in the 1960’s, and the attention to detail is worthy of the nitpickiest of Trekkies (go ahead, do your worst in the comments). Look for episodes 3, 4, and 5 of the behind the scenes doc in weeks to come. Episode 1: CATCH VIC MIGNOGNA BEHIND THE SCENES IN THE SERIES STAR TREK CONTINUES
