First Stone Laid For Paramount Park In Spain – New Images & Videos Of Star Trek Attractions

Last year we reported that there was a plan to build a new Paramount theme park in Murcia, Spain which would include attractions based on Star Trek. This week ground was broken for the project in a special ceremony. There are also more details and images and promo videos from the planned Park and Star Trek attractions. Check it all out below.


Star Trek TNG HD Screenings Theater List Announced + Amazon Lowers Blu-ray Pre-Order Price

Last month we reported that there will be a special theater screenings of Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes in HD on July 23rd (promoting the release of the Season 1 Blu-ray on July 24th). We now have the list of theaters and more details on the event. Tickets go on sale on Friday June 8th (but StarTrek.com registered members can buy today). The Star Trek highlight of Phoenix Comicon on Saturday was William Shatner who delighted the packed crowd with stories from his life along with some of his insights into his career path, the nature of fandom, the mythology of Star Trek, how his Star Trek novels are actually autobiographical, and more. Memorial Day Weekend in Phoenix is going to get a lot geekier with Phoenix Comic Con. This year promises to be the biggest one ever for the fan-friendly event, including a slew of Star Trek guests and fan panels. William Shatner will be there along with Star Trek: The Next Generation stars Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirits, Wil Wheaton and LeVar Burton. As reported last week, Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy returned to his home town to receive an honorary doctorate degree and give the convocation address Boston University’s College of Fine arts. As part of his address, Nimoy talked about how he was initially "scared" to take on the role of Spock. You can watch Nimoy’s full address below.


FedCon Sat: Frakes Reveals Star Trek Sequel Set Visit + Shatner On JJ Not Hiring Him + McFadden Hopes For ‘Big Bang’

On Saturday, the third day of this year’s FedCon, Jonathan Frakes revealed he had been on the set of the new Star Trek movie, William Shatner filled not one but two rooms and talked about JJ Abrams not hiring him, while Gates McFadden told the audience about her heroes and said she hoped to join Wil Wheaon on Big Bang Theory. All 5 Star Trek TV Captains To Appear Together For First Time At Philadelphia Comic Con

Last month we reported that all five of Star Trek’s TV captains will gather for the first time ever at Destination Star Trek London in October. However, with the addition of Patrick Stewart to their line-up it turns out that Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con being held May 31 – June 3rd will get the honor of first collection of five Trek captains. Today’s video to share comes from the Magic Smoking Monkey Theatre (what a name!) in St. Louis, MO who are currently performing live versions of the classic Star Trek episodes "The Gamesters of Triskelion" and "Journey to Babel." Star Trek: The Next Generation Promotional HD Screenings To Be Held In July

As previously reported the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation arrives on Blu-ray on July 24th. And in order to promote the release, CBS will be holding theatrical screenings across the USA in advance of the release. Calgary Bus Shelters and Transporter App Let You Beam Up

George Takei Resigned To No TOS Star Cameos In JJ Abrams Star Trek Sequel(s) [VIDEO]

For the 2009 Star Trek movie, director JJ Abrams and his team brought in the original Spock Leonard Nimoy to help build the bridge to the new crew and new movie universe. And now George Takei says (while attending ECCC over the weekend) he originally thought Abrams might look to another original Star Trek star to come on board for the sequel, he now believes there wont be any more TOS stars in future Abrams Trek films.
