It has been a long wait but Star Trek: The Next Generation is finally on iTunes. The first season was added today – in HD. More details on that, plus a round-up of all the Star Trek: TNG and Enterprise home video Blu-ray release info for March and April.
This evening CBS has now released the full details on their April Blu-ray releases. We have all the disc-by-disc specifics for Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 3 and the special stand-alone ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ Blu-ray sets. In addition we have high res box art, trailers and a demo of the special ‘Best of Both Worlds’ fold-out packaging along with all the pre-order links.

April is going to be a big month for Star Trek on Blu-ray. First up is season three of Star Trek: The Next Generation coming on April 30th, along with a special stand-alone release of the two-part episode “Best of Both Worlds” on the same day. In addition on the same day Paramount is releasing a number of Star Trek feature films that were previously only available in box sets. Season 2 of Star Trek: The Next Generation was released on Blu-ray yesterday and the set includes an extended version of "Measure of a Man," one of Trek’s most memorable episodes. In a new interview Sir Patrick Stewart talks about how that is one of the few early TNG episodes he can even remember. He also talks about show’s attempts at romance with Picard. Excerpts below.

On Thursday night Star Trek fans across the United States attended the Next Generation Second Season Blu-Ray Event. While CBS still hasn’t come out and issued a press release confirming that the most recent Star Trek series is on it’s way to Blu-ray, today the official Trek site confirmed Star Trek Enterprise is on the way in 2013. Not only that, but they are asking fans to help choose box. More details below.

The Next Generation is currently being digitally remastered for release on Blu-Ray, and it’s a huge job to say the least. Our friends over at TrekCore recently sat down with the CBS Digital remastering team and talked with them about the process. The extensive 5-part interview is a very in-depth and technical look at the project, and it reveals some interesting tid bits like how the team is digging up 25-year old bloopers and outtakes thought to be lost. The release date of Season 2 of Star Trek The Next Generation has been released to retailers, which means the word got ’round quickly to the Internet. The release date is now known to be December 4th in the U.S.A. Read on for the unconfirmed list of extras.
Since the release of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-ray last week there have been a number of fan complaints about audio issues related to the surround sound track on some of the episodes.
