In the better late than never category, Cryptic has notified registered users of Star Trek Online that back in late 2010 they were the vicitims of a hacker and that user information was comprimised. They are now suggesting users change their passwords to avoid future problems, details below.

Star Trek Online is celebrating it’s second anniversary. As we have been reporting, the massive multiplayer game Star Trek Online is moving to a new free-to-play model on January 17th (get it….17-01). And Cryptic just announced that starting tomorrow some players who tried out the game before can get into the free-to-play STO starting tomorrow.
Earlier this year Star Trek Online hosted a contest for artists to design the next USS Enterprise for use in the game. They are now working on creating the in game model for the winning design and some new work in progress images have been released revealing the saucer separation and the auxiliary craft.
