Star Trek’s history with video games is not a particularly illustrious one. Over the years, Trekkies have had to deal with buggy action games, space battles with questionable controls, and blatant cash grabs. When I heard about Star Trek Timelines last summer at the Star Trek Convention, I thought we might finally be getting a Star Trek game that could buck the trend. And while Timelines doesn’t reinvent the mobile game wheel, there’s enough content here for a fan to be entertained. Read on for my full review.
There was much to see this past weekend at the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, but I was excited for one thing in particular taking place in the merchandise hall and on stage Sunday afternoon. Disruptor Beam brought their brand new mobile game, Star Trek Timelines, to the show floor and I got a little hands-on time with it.

Cryptic is adding more Star Trek: Voyager stars to their upcoming Delta Rising expansion for Star Trek Online. Today they announced Jeri Ryan, Ethan Phillips and Robert Picardo are now on board, adding their voices to the game, bringing the total to five Voyager stars. Details below.

This morning Cryptic Studios launched an update for Star Trek Online. They have completely revamped the game’s crafting system, introduced a new standard uniform for Federation players, and added the Xindi too. Prolific web-based publisher NGames has teased a new free-to-play Star Trek MMO that takes place after the events of Star Trek: Voyager and is set in Fluidic Space. Players must either side with the Klingons or the Federation as they control fleets, explore, and battle Species 8472. The game will be released on NGames-operated Games321.com. NGames promises more information in the coming weeks, but so far they’ve only given us a single screenshot of the game (above).
A Star Trek fan, known only as “Daniel,” has created a web-based game where players can explore the Enterprise-D in pixelated, isometric form. Featuring common areas, such as the bridge, ready room, andcaptain quarters, the game also contains little-seen rooms like restrooms, science labs, and staircases. Star Trek Online has launched its second annual Risa event, allowing players to partake in various summertime activities. This year’s event features new assignments and rewards, and those who complete the event reputation project earn access to a new high-tier ship. The event is available June 5-July 17.
Disruptor Beam, a Boston-based game developer, has announced the development of Star Trek Timelines, a multiplayer strategy RPG set in the Prime Universe that will cover every era of the franchise’s history, from the Enterprise-era through the TNG-era. The developer, who released Game of Thrones Ascent last year, is designing the game in a way that makes “mixing and matching” crews from different eras a possibility.

The new Star Trek co-op game (for PC, PS3 and Xbox360) is has Kirk and Spock from the new universe trying to save a Vulcan colony from an invasion of the Gorn. And Paramount has released a new video promo of the game featuring William Shatner and a TOS Gorn re-enacting the classic fight scene from "Arena." Check it out below. Today Perfect World and Cryptic announced a major expansion to Star Trek Online, the massive multiplayer game set in Star Trek’s 25th century. In May they will launch "Star Trek Online: Legacy of Romulus" – a new expansion that adds the Romulans as a third playable faction for the game. More info, screenshots and a trailer below.

Today Namco Bandai has announced an official release date for their upcoming Star Trek video game, which is set between the 2009 Star Trek movie and Star Trek Into Darkness.
