A lot is happening right now in the world of Star Trek Online, with two major announcements: an Original Series expansion, Agents of Yesterday, and the news that the entire game will be ported to Xbox and Playstation consoles. We sat down with STO’s executive producer Stephen Ricossa at Cryptic Studios in California to talk about all of the new exciting things to come. The takeaway? Star Trek Online has launched its second annual Risa event, allowing players to partake in various summertime activities. This year’s event features new assignments and rewards, and those who complete the event reputation project earn access to a new high-tier ship. The event is available June 5-July 17.

Today Perfect World and Cryptic announced a major expansion to Star Trek Online, the massive multiplayer game set in Star Trek’s 25th century. In May they will launch "Star Trek Online: Legacy of Romulus" – a new expansion that adds the Romulans as a third playable faction for the game. More info, screenshots and a trailer below.

Star Trek Online, the free-to-play MMO, has launched its season 6 update. Titled "Under Seige" this new update adds many new features for player fleets, including ability to build your own Starbases. In the better late than never category, Cryptic has notified registered users of Star Trek Online that back in late 2010 they were the vicitims of a hacker and that user information was comprimised. They are now suggesting users change their passwords to avoid future problems, details below.
Recently this year Perfect World and Cryptic re-launched the massive multiplayer game Star Trek Online as a Free-To-Play game (in English). And now they have followed that up with a European launch of French and German versions of Free-To-Play STO. More details below.
Star Trek Online is celebrating it’s second anniversary. The game, which recently went to a free-to-play model has some new events including a mission where you can fly around the new Odyssey class ship (aka the Enterprise-F). As we have been reporting, the massive multiplayer game Star Trek Online is moving to a new free-to-play model on January 17th (get it….17-01). And Cryptic just announced that starting tomorrow some players who tried out the game before can get into the free-to-play STO starting tomorrow.
Earlier this year Star Trek Online hosted a contest for artists to design the next USS Enterprise for use in the game. They are now working on creating the in game model for the winning design and some new work in progress images have been released revealing the saucer separation and the auxiliary craft. On January 17th the Star Trek Online massive multiplayer game is getting a reboot by moving to a "free to play" model. In anticipation of that event, Cryptic has created a new cut-scene, which introduces the back-story of the game. The new version again uses a voice over from Mr. Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy.
