Due to various shipping and other issues, TrekInk has some catching up to do. As such, we’re going to do a quick review and summary on each of four recent Trek comics: the second "Assignment Earth", then the third "New Frontier", the second "Enterprise Experiment", and closing it all out with the final issue in the "Intelligence Gathering" series.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is often cited as the best Star Trek film, yet it ironically had very little merchandising and not a singe action figure. That all changed in 2007 as Diamond Select celebrated the 25th Anniversary of TWOK by starting a line of action figures and toy ships. This week TrekMovie takes a look at the entire line of DST TWOK figures, including the latest figures released in the last month.
As reported from the Licensing Expo last week, Radica Games (a division of Mattel) is working on a Star Trek version of their popular hand-held “mind reading” game 20Q. But you don’t have to wait until the game is in stores. You can play a version of the game online at a new website launched today, and you will help make the programed AI for the hand held version even smarter.
Since January when TrekMovie.com first reported the demise of game developer Perpetual Entertainment, the future of the “Star Trek Online” MMORPG has been uncertain. Although TrekMovie has reported that sources indicate Cryptic Studios picked up the license, Cryptic continues to refuse to comment on any speculation, but today they dropped pretty big hint.
There are new synopses available for the Star Trek books from Pocket Books for the Fall. This includes the Enterprise book “Kobayashi Maru” and the TNG/Titan (+more) crossover "Destiny" trilogy. [Spoilers] .
Trek back with Mattel and many more big names As reported yesterday, CBS Products is at the New York Licensing Expo this week talking up the Trek brand. Today CBS has officially announced over a dozen new Trek licenses with partners like Mattel, Fortune Fashions, Pez many more. The licenses cover things from toys, to electronic devices, to clothes, to food, to bedding, so the next year is shaping up to be a Trek collectors dream.
This week is the annual Licensing Expo at the Jacob Javitts Convention center in New York City, and Star Trek is there. The show is for companies to show off their brands and strike deals with merchandisers. CBS Consumer Products (who handles Trek licensing) has a large booth and list Star Trek as one of their key brands.
