William Shatner is touring Australia and New Zealand this week with his "Shatner, Kirk, Crane and Beyond". At the show in Sydney Bill once again talked about how he wants in on the Star Trek sequel, and he also talked about the death of Kirk in Generations. Two weeks ago TrekMovie hosted a spontaneous ‘live tweet’ watching party of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, debating the film with Free Enterprise director Robert Meyer Burnett. Christian Slater Brings Star Trek Captain’s Chair To His New Sitcom ‘Breaking In’

Actor Christian Slater showed his Star Trek fandom two decades ago with a Star Trek VI cameo, and now he is bringing his inner Trekkie to his new Fox sitcom Breaking In, where he worked in an original series Star Trek captain’s chair for his character. ‘Star Trek IV’ cinematographer Don Peterman dies at 79 [UPDATED]

Don Peterman, the cinematographer who was nominated for an Oscar for his work on Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, has passed away at the age of 79. The two-time Oscar nominee died of complications from leukemia at his home in Palos Verdes Estates on February 5th. See below for more on Peterman and his career. Last Saturday Harve Bennett, producer of four Star Trek films, did a Q&A at a screening of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home in Ashland Oregon, where he talked about his time on Trek, his never-produced Starfleet Academy movie, and he offered a critical opinion of JJ Abrams 2009 Star Trek movie. Harve Bennett Talks “Academy Years” Concept & JJ Abrams Star Trek

Back in 1989 Harve Bennett (producer of Star Trek II, III, IV & V) proposed that the Star Trek franchise needed to be restarted with Kirk and Spock being recast for a move set at Starfleet Academy. Work began on the project, including a script, but Paramount decided to stick with the original crew for one more film. In a new interview, Bennett talks about "The Academy Years" film, and also gives his thoughts about JJ Abrams Star Trek.

George and I talked a lot about his long lobbying effort to get the Captain’s chair for Star Trek VI and how he wanted to get it back for a Sulu TV series.
