JJ Abrams loves a good mystery and, as an amateur magician, loves a big surprise. One look at his TV show Lost and his feature film Cloverfield and you can see that he has taken the art of a secret to a new level…and his new Star Trek film is no exception. Now Abrams talks to the Jossip blog about why he doesn’t like them spoilers.
On Sunday TrekMovie.com shared some exclusive preview pics of a Star Trek themed cake to be featured in an upcoming episode of the Food Network show “Ace of Cakes.” The article spawned many comments here and some sites and blogs picked up the story (as per usual). But then some other sites decided to focus on the comments and took one in particular way too seriously.

The TrekMovie.com sponsored Grand Slam XVI: Q&A with Bob Orci has just started (Alex couldn’t make it due to a last minute thing). The TrekMovie.com and io9 ‘Make a Fake’ Contest is now over. We have received a number of entries, some of which were attempts at fooling Vreenak, and others were just a bit of fun foolishness. Although fakes, it is likely some of the entries could have spurred some internet rumors if they weren’t labeled as such. See below for all of the entries and the winner.
Last weekend the latest in the line of leaked Star Trek movie footage hoaxes showed up at io9, bringing out Senator Vreenak once again to pass judgment. The folks at io9 decided to turn this lemon into lemonade and due to the lack of real footage, start a contest for fake footage. They have asked TrekMovie.com to joined in as well. So are you a faker?
TrekMovie.com is headed to beautiful downtown Burbank next month for the Creation Grand Slam Convention. The event is chock full of Trek and sci-fi celebs (including Spocks, Quinto and Nimoy). And today Creation and TrekMovie.com are announcing the addition of a TrekMovie.com Q&A with the writing team of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. We also have a pair of ‘Gold’ tickets to give away.

Due the the increased traffic TrekMovie.com is again migrating to new servers. Currently testing is being done, but over the next few days you may notice some issues. This work is being done to both improve the site performance and to allow the addition of new features. We appreciate your patience.
The official movie site for Star Trek opened up their forums tonight.
If you don’t own an iPhone stop reading now, but for my fellow iPhoners here is a little helping hand from TrekMovie.com. We have added a nice little icon for you to put TrekMovie.com on your home page (see image right). You will have to have upgraded to the latest firmware, and if you need help there are instructions on the Apple homepage. Thanks to my new friend Kayla for making the icon.
Answers to questions posed in the submissions thread for the JJ Abrams live chat will be posted HERE IN THIS THREAD LIVE (starting at 1PM Pacific Time).
It is now officially 2008. It is going to be a big year for Trek so drink up.
Besides a few passing mentions Star Trek hasn’t been big on Christmas. But one year from today Star Trek will be be the best Christmas present you can ask for. Until then – Merry Christmas from the TrekMovie.com crew.
Star Trek always reminded us of the importance of family and friends, and so today we wish you all happy gatherings. Let us all give thanks to all that is really important in life. And give thanks that Star Trek is the gift that keeps on giving too.

You can take the boy out of Iowa, but can’t take the Iowa out of the boy
A couple friends and contributors of TrekMovie.com have put up new podcasts and I say check them out. First up is Daren Dochterman who has a commentary for his Doomsday Machine Efffects video. Podcast at TrekEnhanced.com Next up is Rick Kelvington who has launched a new podcast show along with Jessica Menn called ‘Talking Entertainment.’ More info at Kelvington.com …and yes eventually TrekMovie.com will have its own podcast
Earlier today TrekMovie.com posted a supposed ‘leaked design sketch’ of a reimagined Enterprise for Star Trek XI. Word of this sketch spread around the Internet like wild fire. It is being discussed on StarTrek.com, TrekWeb, TrekBBS, SomethingAwful, WordForge, Bethesda, and even in the TreksInSciFi podcast. After thorough research TrekMovie.com has learned that this sketch is indeed an Apirl Fool’s Day joke. The scheme was hatched by TrekMovie.com owner Anthony Pascale who was unavailable for comment but was seen walking the streets of Los Angeles giggling maniacally. We have also learned his accomplice was artist Jason Lee (who also goes by the name ‘Vektor’) who actually created the so-called leaked sketch. When questioned Mr. Lee would only say "we just thought it would be kind of funny." Funny indeed.
If you live in the Bay Area make sure to drop by Wondercon on Friday at 5:30 to see the panel Trek Lives! The Rise, Fall and Rise of Star Trek. The panel is set up by Geek Monthly Magazine and will feature other Treksperts ‘discussing the past, present and future of sf’s first franchise.’ I will be joined by Jeff Bond and Daren Dochterman as well as Robert Meyer Burnett (director of Free Enterprise). Daren will be showing some of his rare audio and video stuff from Trek history. I will pontificate on TOS-R, STXI and the future of Trek! I will also be hanging around the Geek Monthly booth. For more info see the Official Wondercon Site
We all know that "Doomsday" was the big one for CBS-Digital, and that Special Effects Supervisor Niel Wray went a bit grey getting it finished. Well the effects team thought they would play a little prank on Niel and try and convince him that eagle eyed TrekMovie.com readers spotted an error in the final product (in the trailer). To that end they recreated a fake version of TrekMovie.com with a faked trailer and some rewritten comments…
Later this month TrekMovie.com will reach its 6 month anniversary. In its short life TrekMovie.com has quickly become the leading site for news and information for the world Star Trek. It has also attracted an active community of dedicated fans who can discuss their favorite franchise in an open minded and thoughtful way. The success of the site is due to a focus on exclusive content and the diversity and quality of our writer contributors. As we move towards the second half of our first year it is now time to start thinking about where to go from here. Below is some of the current thinking presented as both a ‘heads up’ as well as an opportunity for feedback. I know some Trekkies are often resistant to change, but there is always room for improvement.
Like Seinfeld’s Frank Constanza, Star Trek was never big on Christmas. But there still were a few passing mentions, the most notable being Picard’s Christmas fantasy in Generations. We here at TrekMovie.com hope the fantasies of all the Trekkie boys and girls come true this holiday.
The venerable Trek site Ex Astris Scientia has named TrekMovie.com it’s ‘Ex Astris Excellentia‘ award winner of the month. The Trek Movie Report was launched just a couple of months ago as a hub for announcements and rumors about the upcoming feature film "Star Trek XI", as well as for news and reviews regarding remastered TOS episodes, DVD and game releases. Webmaster Anthony Pascale has created a cutting-edge Trek news site of a new kind. Aww shucks guys…you are making me blush. Bernd Schnieder’s EAS site is definately an essential site for any Trekkie. On behalf of myself, Matt and all the other contributors, we are honored.
