Six years ago TrekMovie broke the news that CBS was considering a new animated Star Trek series developed by some insider vets. This show "Star Trek: Final Frontier" never made it past the development stage, but in the past the creators have shared images and details on the web. And now they are revealing the scripts they wrote as well. Details below along with an exclusive image.

Back in August we announced that LaLaLand Records was releasing the ultimate original Star Trek soundtrack with all the music from the series in a giant 15-disc box set. We now have more images of the set and the track listing for the first disc. They have also announced a special free Star Trek event in Hollywood, CA on December 3rd (the night before release). CBS has released an updated preview trailer for the second season release of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-ray. The preview shows off the remastering work along with a peek at a deleted scene from The Measure of a Man, and some of the other special features.

The last week has been a big one for Star Trek stars appearing on TV. Last week’s Castle was directed by TNG’s Jonathan Frakes and it was full of Star Trek references and DS9 star Armin Shimerman. TNG’s Patrick Stewart popped up on The Daily Show, Wil Wheaton and LeVar Burton were on Big Bang Theory, William Shatner is pitching his new app and Michael Dorn can bee seen pitching cars in between. CBS and QMx have teamed up with artist Juan Ortiz to make groovy retro prints for each episode of The Original Series, and now all of those designs are being printed onto even groovier retro tees. So far, we’ve seen up through Charlie X, but with the new November releases comes The Alternative Factor, Catspaw, Let That Be Your Last Battlefield, and fan favorite The Trouble With Tribbles. Extensive Interview w/CBS Digital on Star Trek TNG Blu-Ray October 6, 2012

The Next Generation is currently being digitally remastered for release on Blu-Ray, and it’s a huge job to say the least. Our friends over at TrekCore recently sat down with the CBS Digital remastering team and talked with them about the process. The extensive 5-part interview is a very in-depth and technical look at the project, and it reveals some interesting tid bits like how the team is digging up 25-year old bloopers and outtakes thought to be lost. Op-Ed guy Joseph Dickerson joins us again, this time to talk about Trek’s role on the small screen. Fans were informally surveyed by Larry Nemeck at the official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas last August as to what they wanted from Trek. The overwhelming response was that the fans want Star Trek back on TV. “Star Trek started on TV, and Star Trek is best suited to be a TV show,” one fan said. But does the idea of a new Star Trek TV series make sense for CBS-Paramount? Joe gives us a bit of perspective on how to answer this question from both a business and creative perspective.
