Six years ago TrekMovie broke the news that CBS was considering a new animated Star Trek series developed by some insider vets. This show "Star Trek: Final Frontier" never made it past the development stage, but in the past the creators have shared images and details on the web. Orci also finally (after some coaxing) makes a big declaration about the canon status of some of Star Trek’s extended universe materials. Orci: Team Talking About Potential Star Trek TV Show + Rules Out Some Sequel Characters + more June 25, 2012

Star Trek sequel co-writer/producer was a call-in guest on a Southern California radio show over the weekend. He didn’t give away any big spoilers for the Star Trek movie, but he did rule out the appearance of a number of classic Star Trek characters. And perhaps more intriguingly, Orci discussed in detail some of the discussions that have been going on regarding bringing Star Trek back to TV.

In a new interview Star Trek co-writer/producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have given an update on a possible new animated Star Trek series, saying they would love to do it if they could. Update on Star Trek: Final Frontier – The New Star Trek Animated Series That Never Was May 3, 2010

Back in December 2006 TrekMovie posted a story about a possible web animated series being developed byDavid Rossi, Doug Mirabello and José Muñoz. Later called "Star Trek: Final Frontier" the project essentially died with the 2007 layoffs at StarTrek.com. Now in a new interview and on their new website, Rossi, Munoz and Mirabello give out all the details on this Trek that never was.

CBS Considering New Animated Trek Series For The Web December 13, 2006

Star Trek may be set for a comeback into yet another arena, this time in the 2nd dimension. TrekMovie.com has learned that there is a new animated Trek project under consideration at CBS, but it has yet to get the green light. The series would most likely be broadcast on the web and be made up of ‘Clone Wars’ like 6-minute mini episodes. The yet-to-be-named project was originally pitched by long-time Trek producer David Rossi (well known to TrekMovie.com readers as a producer on Trek Remastered) along with his producer/writer partners Doug Mirabello and José Muñoz. Rossi sat down with TrekMovie.com for an exclusive look at how he and his partners hope to create a different kind of Trek set in the 26th century.
