Trek Remastered Season 2 Schedule Released

CBS has released the new schedule for the second syndication season of the remastered Star Trek: The Original Series. All of the remaining 40 episodes (including the original pilot "The Cage") will be aired between mid September and next August. The first episode to air will be the Spock centric "The Galileo Seven" on the weekend of September 15th – which will certainly have a lot of shots of a digital shuttle craft. This will be followed by four more episodes from the original first season of TOS (as expected due to the CBS team having to finish up for the season one HD DVD release in November). "The Ultimate Computer," the most effects laden episode for the upcoming season, will air in the 2nd weekend of February (just as "Doomsday Machine" was in the first syndication season). The project will come to an end on August 2nd 2008 with the airing of (fittingly) of the final TOS episode "Turnabout Intruder." Full schedule available at the TrekMovie.com TOS-R Season 2 Episode Guide

Can’t wait for The Galileo Seven!

Looks like the bulk of my favorites are from February to April of 2008, with stinkers afterwards. Can’t wait!

Lord… I hope they fix up those Cave man dudes a little. They were pretty shabby looking!

The Ultimate Computer will definitely be a “can’t miss”.

One of these days, I may get to see a TOS-R ep. I find myself marooned in Alabamastan, and consider myself lucky to have cable TV and flush toilets down here. Even dentistry hasn’t evolved much beyond a mallet to the noggin and a pair of rusty pliers.

The Ultimate Computer, Elaan of Troyus and The Enterprise Incident should be interesting to see.

Thus far this project has not lived up to my expectations.

I don’t hate it, but I don’t really see a reason to trade in my TOS dvd’s to buy these updated versions.

yep first season dvd… gonna love that arent we… well those of us who can afford that much money. the fact these dvds are so overpriced just puts me off it all together.

altho tvshowsondvd.com recently posted that it IS coming to BluRay after all

It cannot be coming to Blu-ray, Paramount just announced it is going HD DVD exclusive.

And TVShowsonDVD says as much here:

Yeah, I think Paramount has made HD-DVD it’s official choice.

Be grateful you never saw their faces. There’s a pic somewhere on a site somewhere that shows the masks. Think leftover from Shatner’s Twilight Zone airplane nutso episode.

Anyway, I have a friend in Iraq who’ll be thrilled to hear that “The Ultimate Computer” is coming next February. Hmm… maybe we could be done there by then. …

… OK, I was dreaming.

sorry to be picky but isnt the doomday machine season two not season one, i agree the dvd are rip offs there is no way im paying that amount for a tv programe even one i love as much as star trek but we know that it will come down in price just wait and see

Oh well for Paramount. The stupid bastards are once again going for the inferior way out. I’m so sick of their cheapness.

I agree. I’ve long thought the effects in Enterprise Incident were cool as is. I’ve long thought this was one neglected from all the talk about what re-mastering could do.

Anyword about whether the syndicated stations work out the High Definition file storage problem that prevented them from broadcasting Star Trek in HI_Def last year?

When they do The Apple, I’d give credits to Navy beans if they re-do Vol. The paper machiere rhino is one of the worst images in all of TOS. The rest of the episode is OK, although the red shirt body count is staggering. I think it’s the only time Kirk beams down with that many security dudes at once, and look what happens.

Hooray!

I’ve never seen “The Ultimate Computer,” actually. It’s one of my glaring holes of Trekkie. And now it will be filled with TOS-R effects!

Dude…here in fine ol’ West Virginia, them thar flushy terlets and cable-die tv’s are as far distant as Star Trek!

I find it interesting that they are re-doing “The Cage”.

I think they made an error because “The Omega Glory Remastered” already premiered back in June.

Just looking ahead:
– Galileo 7: I’ve been looking forward to this one for some time. One of my favorites; it’ll be nice to see what they do with all the shuttle shots.
– Conscience: another personal favorite that many find boring. I’m looking for zippy stars out the observation deck window and maybe a shot of the Astral Queen?
– Man Trap: Wouldn’t it be cool if they could do some morphing FX? Hmm…maybe not.
– Little Girls: updated circuitry in Korby’s hand?
– Dagger: new Tantalus matte painting?
– Gamesters: “That’s a trinary sun.”
– Metamorphosis: Another underrated fave of mine. Boy, they have their work cut out for them on this one, though I suspect we’ll see enhanced Companion effects.
– Deadly Years: new Romulans ships!
– Alternative Factor: no amount of new FX can help the First Season’s only Truly Bad show.
– Armageddon: new mattes? Updated graphics in the scanner room?

I’ll stop there … for the Christmas holidays. All in all, I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with the above!

Scott B. out.

Yeah I love to see something done to them as well, but going on what has been changed in the past I doubt very much we will see anything changed there.

I really hope they are a bit more adventurous with what they decide to change for this batch of episodes. Hopefully they will have down the mechanics for the shots they have to do so they have more time to give us that little bit more for each episode.

I am hoping at the least we will get a few more new angles of the big E. I’d like to see some new angles of the Enterprise in orbit, breaking away from the traditional shot the have been recreating over and over. A bird’s eye view of the Enterprise in Orbit would be cool!

People have (rightfully) mentioned the cave dudes and the shuttle shots from G7, but I’m really hopeful that they’ll find some way to fix that decades old film problem with the bottom half of the screen being all weird when one of the crew is attacked. Anyone know what I’m talking about, it last for a bout three seconds.

Bill, I think I know what you refer to in G7. I think that was a last minute fix to obscure the view of the spear in the guy’s back. The censors probably thought it was too gruesome. They might tweak it so it won’t “move” as the camera pans, but not much they can or should do there, IMHO.

you mean this…

I am hoping they will just make it look like its very foggy and just add a cloud effect over the top of the blue area.

Holo J, that’s what I was thinking Bill meant.

With The Gamesters of Triskelion coming up soon I am wondering if they will do anything to the reused matt painting from “Devil in the dark”?

http://tos.trekcore.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=67&pos=232

It’s going to be tough to replace it with the dome reflecting the light and distorting the image being slightly. It will be interesting to see what they do here. I hope they don’t just leave because it to difficult to do, that would be very disappointing.

Lots to look forward to though!

Will look forward with interest to what is enhanced, and what is not…but my expectation levels will be halved now, if the first lot is anything to go by…

And I’m still reeling at the fact that these ridiculously over-priced first remastered episodes on DVD / HD-DVD didn’t even have the later improved ‘Enterprise’ shots added to the initial episodes…

Totally agree, I am still looking forwad to what they will do, but I now know not to expect too much…

Has it been confirmed that they definitely haven’t fixed the earlier episodes for the DVD’s?

After seeing a Remastered special effects preview hosted by Mike and Denise Okuda at the Las Vegas Creation Star Trek Convention on August 10, I’d say that the new Galileo effects are very exciting.

Yes, Mike Okuda at the Las Vegas Creation Con said that they will not go back and fix anything.

No, nothing in the Remastered special effects preview showed anything of redone cave people.

This schedule and the one on startrek.com list Doomsday Machine repeating the weekend of Sept. 9th.

Yet tvguide.com is reporting that here in NYC, Amok Time is airing:

WNBC-DT 232 Mon, Sep 3 2:35 AM The Corbomite Maneuver

WNBC-DT 232 Mon, Sep 10 3:35 AM Amok Time

which is correct ???

It looks like as the contracts expire, we may have some station changes.

here in New Your City, Star Trek Remastered is moving to from Channel 4 to Channel 9.
