Strike Changes Quinto’s Future On Heroes

[Heroes Spoilers] When the WGA strike first started it was reported that the Heroes production reshot a new final scene for their ‘chapter finale’ which aired Monday night. This new scene featured Zachary Quinto’s Sylar getting his powers back. Originally the Heroes team had planned to write Quinto out of the show while he was shooting Star Trek. In a new interview with TV Guide, Heroes creator Tim Kring explains how the strike gave them a chance to keep Quinto around…

From the article:

There are plenty more baddies coming after the writers’ strike concludes. In fact, the title of Volume 3 — “Villains” — says it all.

“We’ve introduced a cadre of them over the course of the show and we’re going to see them rise up,” Kring says. “Just as the heroes have found each other to save the world, the villains will do the same with the opposite intent.” And their numbers may be legion. “The Company has catalogued many of these people over the years. There may be more of them down in that basement than we have alluded to so far.”

Will Sylar (Zachary Quinto) be their ringleader? After being electro-zapped by Elle, Mister Eyebrows escaped to a back alley and skeevily injected himself with Claire’s (Hayden Panettiere) blood. Then, in a wicked salute to Popeye, he telekinetically grabbed a can of spinach and said, “I’m back!”

“Sylar getting his power back does not bode well for our heroes,” says Kring, who admits there is one upside to the writers’ strike: Originally, Quinto was not going to be available for much of Volume 3 because of his commitment to the new Star Trek film. Now, with the strike dragging on, he’ll likely be done playing young Spock by the time Heroes returns to production.

Awesome to see Quinto staying on in Heroes!

at least something good has come out of the writers strike.

Awesome!

when’s the cast pictures going to show up….

*sigh*

I was worried that we wouldn’t get another Quinto story anytime soon, thank goodness!!!!

Darth “Quinto the Hutt” Ballz

IMO, there’s a growing and somewhat weird imbalance between Quinto’s frequency of showing up and the maintenance of silence from other actors involved in STXI.

Heroes is a great show. I’m glad that Kring and Co. decided to have a
definitve ending to the chapter. It felt a little rushed and piecemeal, but it worked. If all the series were only 12 or 13 episodes per season, like in England, I think the stories would be tighter, more exciting.
Oh yeah, can’t wait for the Star Trek movie.

#6, I agree that the volume 2 finale felt a bit rushed, but I was glad to see several storylines get wrapped up (too bad Maya didn’t stay dead, though). And I’m thrilled that Zachary gets to have more screentime on Heroes–at least SOMETHING good is coming out of this f@#$!ng strike. >:(

Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn.

This guy’s character in Heroes is so boring. And this season, Quinto’s acting is campy and one dimensional. He is simply not that good. I agree with #5 Iowagirl–he is all over the place with Star Trek and yet nothing is heard from other cast members, just doesn’t seem right to me.

Actors get too much credit when a show is well written and too much blame when it is not. Heroes Season 2 is proof of that.

*sigh*

That’s not the new Enterprise. That’s Gabe Koerner’s Enterprise Concept.

It had better not look like that.

I’m looking at the photo above.

Dude, you’ve got to put your hand ON the person’s neck in order to do the Vulcan nerve pinch.

Unless you’re trying to communicate with your wife via The Force, like Anakin did with Padme at end of Star Wars Episode 3: When Things Go Very Bad.

(Note to person who corrects me on such matters: this post is meant as a joke.)

Post #13 was really from Jupiter1701. “Mark” is the second of my 9 personalities, and sometimes he takes over my fingers while typing on the computer.

(Speaking of which, if you know anybody else who has 9 personalities, give me a shout and we’ll have enough people to play a baseball game.)

Heheheheh.

well its good to see we all stayed on topic ………..hmm whats shatner up to ? is he in the movie yet . lol ( i had to do it)

Quinto is a great actor and there are others who would agree on how talented and creepy he protray his character on Heroes . Im glad he is our young spock.

Loved the Popeye nod. Would have died laughing had Sylar said “I yam whad I yam — ug gugugugugug.”

I’m glad they’re keeping (apparently) Sylar as the main villain. I think we woulda been better with no writers strike, though. If you go looking for what “good” has come out of it, it’s pretty thin. Cavemen ran more eps than it should have. wooo-hoooo.

GET IT SETTLED, GUYS! No potty breaks til you’re done.

Regardless of what you thought of the Heroes finale, you have to admit Quinto was cool as hell in it. It was the most deliciously evil and dark he’s been in a LONG time.

Hopefully he’ll be in a lot more of Vol 3.

This is the best Quinto fan site, ever! :)

It was a great episode! :D

I am happy to see the producers to keep Sylar alive in the show.

I had some issues with this episode, but I still thought it was great. I like this finale better then season 1 finale.

very insightful

I thought Quinto’s “I’m back” line was the cheesiest, most predictable thing they could have come up with. Of course, I don’t blame the actor, I’m just saying.

Stanky….. Yaaaaaaawwnnnn…

“IMO, there’s a growing and somewhat weird imbalance between Quinto’s frequency of showing up and the maintenance of silence from other actors involved in STXI. ”

You figured out the secret. There IS no other cast. All parts will be played by Quinto.

Well- IMHO- I am thrilled that Sylar and Quinto will be around for season 3. Hes a great actor and such a great villianous charater! Right on Mr. Quinto! Keep up the good work- can’t wait to see him as Spock too.

Kigs

I wish they’d just have an all-out bloody brawl in this show sometime. A real superfight, where somebody does some serious ass kicking. The show consistently performs below my expectations.

Great episode for the finale. It was a little rushed but it didn’t bother me.
^
Not only was there a Popeye reference there was also a Great Escape salute.

When HRG was bouncing that ball in his cell, I mean cooler.

Aahh, in that case there’s nothing I’ll have to worry about anymore – I’m sure he’ll do a particularly fine job playing Uhura.

#23

Cheesy? Yeah. But I loved the way Quinto delivered the line.

Also loved the shoutout to Popeye. “I’m strong to the finish ‘cuz I can move spinach. I’m Sylar, the brain-eating man!”

Peace. Live long and prosper.
