New Trailer For John Cho’s ‘Harold and Kumar 2’

Before John Cho is seen as the new Sulu in Star Trek next Christmas, the sequel to his 2004 hit Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle hits the screens April 25th. As the actor credited for coining the term MILF (in American Pie), Cho is known for R Rated humor and the new trailer for Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay is no exception.

First!!!

White Castle is the greatest!

I’m so there!

I like John Cho, he’s pretty funny and a cool actor IMHO.

Find it a little silly when people “hold” this type of role over his head and use it as a slam against him when it comes to his role in the new Trek movie. We know that William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy would NEVER do anything quirky in their acting careers.

#3 – I agree. Some people on the various Trek forums talk about John Cho like Harold is who he really is instead of a character he plays. Sean Penn isn’t really Spicoli after all. He’ll be just fine as Sulu. And H&K2 looks funnier than the original.

HAHAHA

This is a MUST SEE !!

The 2004 hit Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle was sooo funny and well done

It will be one of the few movies that arent sci fi that I will go out of my way to watch

=)

Coined the term “milf”? I don’t think so . He may have popularized it – but that slang has been round long time bro.

This is my type of humour!! :)

You guys all stand up for him. But, before Cho was even cast I would bet a million bucks that none of you would have John Cho in mind to play Sulu if asked “who would you have play Sulu?”

This guy is totally miscast.

this is the best kumar fan site ever.

The movie does look hilarious though!

NPH needs to be in Star Trek!!!

#8 – good logic

Anyone who expecting to see an exact replica of classic Trek next Christmas is going to be disappointed. I’m glad John Cho isn’ a “perfect” image of Sulu. To me that’s a good thing since George Takei is that Sulu and what I’m hoping to see is John Cho’s interperatation of Sulu and that goes for the whole cast. This if done well could be a very good thing to Star Trek so bring it on JJ.

yes, i agree. i hope the new Star Trek movie resembles Star Trek in no way. I want everything to be completely different. BRING IT ON JJ!!! BOOOYAH!!!!

“mexicans!”

rotglmao.

Yeah, John Cho is allowed to play whatever rolls he wants as an actor. But there is a huge difference between being known for performances as Othello or MacBeth– coming from a Shakespearean background– and being known for playing a pot-head with the munchies.

I’ll let this stuff pass for now, but if I’m really going to believe the words coming out of Cho’s mouth as he stands on the bridge of the Enterprise as a symbol of hope and possibility for mankind, I’m going to want him to take his position as a role-model a little more seriously.

With all the lovely and shapely MILFS nobody should be sad or alone during the upcoming holidays.

#8. He’s miscast because there were people who didn’t think he would be Sulu? Don’t forget that we aren’t the producers or the people doing the casting, and may not know what is required of the character in this movie. So I’m not sure what your definition of “miscast” is, but perhaps J.J. may have seen something in him that he didn’t in any of other possibly casting choices (if there were any.)

Also, they may have already seen him be Sulu for the audition and decided he was best fit to do it.

#16. Yes there is a difference, but thats an extreme and rather overstated comparison IMHO. It’s not like they had to choose between him and Patrick Stewart! Again, as I say above, I would think they’ve already seen him be the Sulu character and he fit the part.

“but if I’m really going to believe the words coming out of Cho’s mouth as he stands on the bridge of the Enterprise as a symbol of hope and possibility for mankind, I’m going to want him to take his position as a role-model a little more seriously.”

Well if the words just end up being “Aye Aye Sir” then it’s going to be a little too hard to pull that off way too dramatically and seriously, with dramatic music and an epic build up as it closes in on his face.

#18. Come on, John Cho as Sulu? Yeah, it’s miscast. Really miscast. And yeah, it’s a shame we’re not doing the casting for the movie. We as Star Trek fans know what is required for a Star Trek movie and definitely know what is required for a Star Trek movie involving Kirk and Spock based on characters that have been around for 40 years.

I don’t want to sound like a basher. I love Star Trek. I grew up with it. And for the most part it’s mistcast (the biggest being Cho and Pegg, who are both awesome but, not fit for the roles of Sulu and Scotty). I am sure that Sulu, Chekov, and Scotty will be comic relief in this movie. Sure, Scotty was good comic relief in the show but, I have a hunch that these 3 characters will be knocked down a few notches with dumb comedy.
Just a hunch though.

And #14 why do you want a star trek movie that doesn’t resemble star trek. Seriously, what’s the point then? I would rather have something new and…oh what’s the word…original. What’s the point of having a remake of star trek when it resembles nothing of star trek?

I’m going to obviously see this movie. I hope this movie does rock. But, so far it’s making me doubt big time. The strongest casting so far is Sarek and Uhura.

So you all keep cheerin’ for off the wall ridiculous casting and ridiculous plot rumours that I hope aren’t true. I am out.

live long and prosper

What crap.

Love it!

I’m thinking that he and Chekov will be the hook for the younger audiences, as they become a Harold and Kumar type team of friends on the bridge. Making comments about Uhura, the last shore leave, etc…

I’m thinking that they will have him and Sulu be a comedy team on the bridge, like Harold and Kumar, commenting on Uhura, the last shorel eave, Ran,d ect. This will make it more appealing to the teens.

I frakkin’ love it when he screws up his face and sports that patented JOhn Cho look of utter and extreme disgust (mostly at Kumar’s antics). I can’t see him as Sulu yet, but I think he’ll do fine.

Wild Man of Borneo–Dude, are you Lenny Pickett?

After watching that trailer, I really have an urge to eat a cheeseburger.

I have less of a problem with Cho as Sulu than I do with Peggy as Scotty. With all due respect to Takei, other than Heroes, I can’t think of another role that I have seen him in besides Sulu. Same goes for Doohan. Maybe typecasting is to blame, but Koenig found at least one other role on TV. It’s not like Cho is some fool for accepting the $$$ to do the sequel to a lucrative film. Hell, if someone offered me the money to do the same thing, I’d grab the check as fast as they could write it.

Goll Dang! I gotta get a cheeseburger!

Trekmovie.com brings new meaning to the phrase “In Theaters Only.”

OK, I’m done.

(Thanks for the new wallpaper, Anthony.)

DUUUUUUDE!!!

this is gonna be hysterical!!
BWAHAHAHA!!!

….Coming soon to a theater near you: Sulu and Chekov go to White Dwarf Castle!

“Sean Penn isn’t really Spicoli after all.”

…There’s quite a few paparazzi who’d agree with you on that one :p

He’s my favorite part of the new Trek casting (with Simon Pegg a close second) because he’s the one that shows backbone.

What I want most from any TOS revisit is backbone. I think he’ll rock as Sulu :)

I do hope that the extended DVD has a candid reel where he refers to She Who is Sarek’s Wife as a MILF, though. :)

flight 420…. heh heh heh…. duuuude. What was I just talking about….. whoa…

Sulu and Chekov need to be a team in Trek 08.Kinda like R2D2 and C3PO.
