Star Trek The Tour (the 50,000 square foot traveling exhibit of Star Trek sets, costumes, props, motion rides, etc) kicks off next Friday in Long Beach, CA. William Shatner is the official ambassador for the event and has already started his publicity tour. In addition a number of Trek celebs are already lined up for signings. Plus Wil Wheaton reveals that the tour will feature the return of Wesley Crusher.
Shatner Publicity
Last night Shatner appeared on Access Hollywood to talk about the tour…and also revealed who was the best kisser on Star Trek
Shatner will have more TV and other press appearances for the tour over the next week.

More celebs are planned for the subsequent weeks, TrekMovie.com will provide a list as details are finalized.
The Return of Wesley Crusher and the Titan
The ‘finale’ of the tour is the ‘4D Encounter Theater’ which features a multimedia presentation along the lines of those at Star Trek The Experience in Las Vegas. After you enter the round theater a simulated briefing will start which quickly turns into a dramatic attack by renegade Klingons on the USS Titan. The film features Wil Wheaton. Wheaton wrote about his appearance on his blog:
Last week, I mentioned one of those “so cool I can’t talk about it” projects. Today, I can go ahead and reveal what it was: I composed that post about an hour before I put on pointy sideburns and a space suit, brought Lieutenant Commander Wesley Crusher back to life as the Assistant Chief Engineer of the USS Titan.
UPDATE: Tuvok in the House
TrekMovie.com has learned that Tim Russ also appears in the movie reprising his role as Tuvok. In the Titan novels from Pocket books Commander Tuvok is the tactical officer of the USS Titan under the command of Captain William Riker. In case you are wondering, neither Jonathan Frakes (Riker) nor Marina Sirtis (Troi) appear in the short filmed presentation.
Gala event Jan 17th – Tour opens Jan 18th
Next Thursday there there will be an invitation only Opening Night Gala with various celebrities including Shatner. TrekMovie.com has been invited so keep an eye out for a report on it. Doors open to the public on Friday January 18th. (some VIP packages also include a ticket to the Opening Gala).

Dave – Post #7
As a fellow Mainer…I’m with you! I’ve watched Trek since the sixties and have never been to any event beyond opening night of a Trek movie. I’m very excited to see The Tour…and The Movie in December.
And just briefly on the latter mentioned event…I look forward to seeing some new Trek in any form. Being a very daily visitor of this site (and others much inferior) and having read all the lines, as well as between them, I expecting to see both an interesting and entertaining film that will hopefully revive and pay repsectful homage to what has become a major icon in the human cultures, i.e. Star Trek
Wishing you all the best…and everyone keep up the great work here. I love this site.
According to someone I talked to from the company it will be going to the following places (in this order):
1) Long Beach
2) San Fransisco
3) Minneapolis
4) Chicago
5) Detroit
They’re expecting Detroit to start end of July or Early August
Wow a lot of B-List Trek actors & fake props!
If the bridge recreations are good,
it might be worth a visit.
Hope there will be pictures of the
Enterprise bridges on the web soon.
Lets hope they did not cheap out this one.
Sorry for the double post, but when going to startrekthetour.com using Firefox I dont get any of the images, is anyone else having this problem w/ firefox, when using IE it works fine.
#13-
Is it really going to go east before it goes to Seattle? That doesn’t seem to make sense.
Maybe if it does, I’ll have more time to save my latinum so that I can get all the goodies.
I’ve actually had 2 different employees tell me this, and according to the newest issue of the Star Trek Magazine it is true. Not the most ‘logical’ course of action, but I get to see it sooner (Im just outside of Detroit)
Regarding the different tickets:
Ticket master only has the Q Pass ($1500.00) and the Captains Package ($175) available, any ideas as to when the other packages and/or stndrd tickets go on sale?
BTW is anyone planning on getting the Q Pass?
Here’s a video of the server for the Tour:

#13 – Yesss, Chicago!!!
is this thing coming to Great Britain???

#11 Harry–me too! I look forward to seeing Wil Wheaton in Starfleet togs again like a cow looks forward to giving hamburger.
I guess I don’t have to worry–what are the odds that the tour will come anywhere near central Illinois?
Wish I could buy the Q PASS. Don’t know what you mean when you say Ticketmaster only has packages – they have General Admission tickets available for all the dates. I just bought tickets for Jan 28th
#20, I’ve heard that it will go overseas after its done in the US and Canada. It’s supposed to be very similar to Star Trek: The Adventure though.
#22, yeah, I noticed that after I made the post, they didnt see the other packages though (Commanders package etc)
I just went to the site, and they show a picture of the Enterprise-A that is labeled as the shooting model, and one can tell that it is obviously not. First, it’s not the right size, and secondly it’s no where near as detailed as the shooting model
Pestley Crusher, TNG. Pfft. :)
I wonder how obselete this will all be in 11 months. HA!!!
I can’t wait till it comes to San Francisco. I wish I could get my tickets now!
=)
please bring it to germany…
thank you trekkie1701D no 23
i hope it does come here in the UK. sounds like a great day out.
cheers
greg
UK
The Q pass is $1500???
For that price, what does the Q stand for?
What, you get to take the Enterprise for a QUICK spin around the solar system?
….Wesley’s back? Get a rope :p
Hearing Wesley’s back is real bad
Every time he’s on screen we get sad
Not that the actor is weak
It’s the role that does reek
When he’s gone for good I’ll be glad!
Okay, guys, I just came from one of the beehives of Tour activity, racing to be ship-shape for premiere night Thursday and opening night Friday, so I’m going to take a sec away from that to say …
The Wesley bashing is *so* 1989. Aside from the fact that I thought fans had grown up to realize they should yell at the early revolving-door writers, not the then-16-year-old kid… have you seen the crowds Wil draws at Vegas and the other big conventions these days? He’s acting more, his blog and poetry and improv have all grown. And this Tour film appearance is a bit of a bone for all those upset how his cameo was trimmed from Nemesis.
Oh and Scott/14: most of the re-creation props are TOS–still very well done, but there are LOTS of more modern original pieces, plus the costumes, and isolated set pieces–all held apart from the recent auctions. (The Ent-A is beautiful, but it is not a filming model; that was a miscue with the early PR. It’s like the big ships built for the Experience lobby). And “B-list actors”? There are series regulars there, and it is only the beginning of the run. Stay tuned.
The show is a mix of cool authentic stuff and very fun fan things–from displays to media to “immersive events”. Plus one Tour project I’m involved in that won’t debut til a few weeks AFTER the Long Beach opening–and I’ll leave it at that.
Except to say: make sure to say howdy if you catch me around there in the early days!

Liked that one, too. :)
#27
ST history will never be obsolete.
#29
Yes, Germany would be great.
Oh, one more thing: there are also LOADS of real filming-model ships, (plus some new models). Didn’t mean to imply otherwise. Bring your cameras. There’s lots for the techheads.
Personally, never much cared for Wesley Crusher. His was the most throw away character. IMO, the show improved with his absense.
Larry: Thanks for the real picture.
I, for one, don’t mind seeing Crusher as a Starfleet officer of proper age. And we DO blame those writers. I just hope you all have his return from cruising with the Traveler sorted out so us canon-heads can sleep at night (though we have bigger things on our mind these days).
Is the Tour coming to NYC?
Wow! *Waves to Larry Nemecek* We are getting some great talent in here these days! Welcome Aboard! Happy to see you here!
I am glad to hear that Wesley is finally getting to make a more proper come-back! And I agree with Larry that Will’s convention appearances are wonderful!
Thanks for the info!
Sound’s good.
Hope this will come to Germany one day.
I like to see an older, wiser and hopefully not so shoked-about-everything Whesley .
And I hope they don’t use this Voyager-kitbash for the USS Titan (I must say, I’ve never had read one of the books, but I’ve seen the aweful Titan-design). The name suggests a big ship like the Enterprise-D or the Enterprise-E and so it should be.
They should make a USS Titan series damn it!!
Has the dates for the other cities been confirmed? Minneapolis is third on that list! Probably looking at early spring? I’m very excited about this coming to the Twin Cities. Back in 1994, a similar type of thing came to the Mall of America. Marina Sirtis, James Dohan and Robin Curtis made appearances. Will there be Trek celeb’s attending all the cities?
There was this Trek exhibit years ago up at Niagara Falls that kicked ass. LOTS of original props, costumes, and rare stuff. Even a full-size- ENT-D engine core and a classic bridge! Anyone remember it? I can’t imagine this topping that.
BTW, welcome, Larry!
I will want to go to the Seattle one. It’s frustrating that they don’t yet have the specific dates for each city. I want to start making my travel plans.
I hope the Seattle one is in the Summer so I will at least have a 10% chance of no rain. :)
Hmmm, I see there is also San Fran and Sacramento. Both would be doable.
Oh, and I ALWAYS liked Wil Wheaton…
Larry Nemecek DATES please!!!!! :)
The city list for North America is yards long. Even if it stays only a month at each site the show would be one the road for years. The last show like this crashed and burned in less than a year.
Having both Seattle and Vancouver on the list is a bit odd. I’m from Vancouver and if it goes to Seattle first I’ll see it there instead of wait months or years.
Hey, Cap’n Pike…….I’m from Toronto!
How many Canadians we got on this ship? (with nod to Spaceballs) :)
I don’t hate Wil Wheaton, I’m sure he’s a nice guy. But if you didn’t hate Wesley Crusher on TNG to the point where his death would have been fan service, something is wrong with you. Seriously. If Star Trek was Happy Days, Wesley would have been Potsie.
Just what did everyone hate about Wesley Crusher? That he was smart? That he was respectful and courteous? That he wasn’t old enough to sleep around like Riker? What? After having too much “reaity” (rebellion, STDs, gangs) I didn’t mind him. Sorry. Maybe the writers were a bit gooey and utopian, but come on! There are plenty of rebels out there like Picard’s almost-son, Jason Vigo for example (Episode #274, May 1994). How about Eddie Haskel on “Leave It To Beaver”? That guy gave me the creeps. I’d take Wesley over them any day. (Although it did look like Jason Vigo was turning his life around thanks to the love of a wonderful father-figure. (sniff!)
You Canadians may want to move to the States when you find out I’m from Toronto. Oh well. C’est la vie. (In case you didn’t know, we are bilingual here in Canada). Hah! What does that mean? There are so many nationalities here it could mean anything. Anyway, I digress.
Sorry Wesley-haters. (Is there a website for “WesleyHaters”?

Just noticed # 11 – Harry
Harry, Harry, Harry, you’re pretty funny.

I love it when you repeat my name over and over like that!
A fellow Torontonian, eh? Up kinda late, aren’t ya? :)
