Message to the fans from Rod
The announcement also included the following the following from Gene and Majel’s son Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry.

My mother truly acknowledged and appreciated the fact that Star Trek fans played a vital role in keeping the Roddenberry dream alive for the past 42 years. It was her love for the fans, and their love in return, that kept her going for so long after my father passed away.

Majel, Starfleet’s computers are forever silenced.

R.I.P. Majel Barrett-Roddenberry

Starfleet’s Computers will be voiced one more time in May of 2009. I expect to be well moved by the sound of her voice living on in a major motion picture.

My condolences to family and friends of Majel. The First Lady Of Star Trek will be sadly missed.

Condolences, Empathies and Blessings to all her loved ones and all of her fans.

Sad. I hope her son picks up the mantle.

#9 – I believe that he started doing so some time back. And I am certain he will do a great job keeping the Roddenberry name, legacy and vision alive for legions of fans, old and new.

Best wishes to you in the new year, Mr. Roddenberry (from one diver to another).

I’m sure all Trekkers including Myself have felt our Hearts silenced at the passing of Lady Majel ! She was always a gracious and warm friend to those both near and far . Her passing ( I believe to a Higher Plane) to many will represent the passing of a Major era of Trek life . But to all of us , it is a very bittersweet farewell , because she was so well liked !
I offer my condolences to all who were very close ! I would have liked to have attended the memorial service , but health and responsibilities prevent that . May All who attend this Service feel the power and spirit of community for this great Lady’s Memorial !!

I believe I can make it to the memorial in order to pay my respects.

A wonderful, wonderful woman. I met and talked with her at my first convention in 1972, and again at the last one I attended in 1989. She was *the* Number One in my book, and I told her so. She seemed to appreciate and share my disappointment that her character didn’t last beyond the first pilot. She said something to me like, “Tell Gene that, would you?” Now, the original Number One has joined with her beloved Great Bird of the Galaxy as they explore together the Final Frontier…
