Paramount To Show Star Trek ‘Sneak Peek’ At WonderCon

They skipped San Diego Comic Con last summer and New York Comic Con last week, but Paramount is bringing a Star Trek panel to WonderCon in San Francisco in just over two weeks. Today the full schedule for WonderCon was announced and included is a ‘sneak peek’ and a ‘special guest’ from the new Star Trek movie. There are other Trek related panels as well, including one with yours truly.

Paramount and Star Trek at WonderCon

When one peruses the WonderCon schedule now online, tucked in with the dozens of other events is the following (on Saturday Feb. 28):

2:00-2:45 Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment: Star Trek—A vision by J. J. Abrams, featuring a young, new crew venturing boldly where no one has gone before. The film stars John Cho, Ben Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Winona Ryder, Zoë Saldana, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin, with Eric Bana and Leonard Nimoy. Be among the first to see exclusive sneak peek footage from this exciting adventure before its May 8 release. Plus a special guest you won’t want to miss, appearing live on the WonderCon stage. Esplanade

What could it be?
This event is just six days before the premiere of Watchmen, so the ‘sneak peek’ could just be the new trailer which is attached to Watchmen. But they have set aside 45 minutes, so perhaps it could be a public showing of some of the 20 minutes of footage shown to the press in the Fall, or maybe some other new footage. Regardless, if you are at WonderCon, you will want to be in that room. You can be sure that TrekMovie.com will be on hand to report from the event. As for the special guest’, well that could be anyone, but hopefully it is a member of the ‘Supreme Court’ and/or or one of the stars of the Star Trek movie.

I don’t want to be first so someone better be awake right now.
Anyway, I think the roll out of this film is going great and despite the move from December it feels like time is just flying by and the movie is almost here!

Cool! oh yeah i’m awake too

I’m torn between wanting more info on the new movie and wanting Paramount to completely keep a lid on it.

There is definitely an undercurrent of anticipation… I really have the feeling that the next couple of months will fly by! We’ll be watching the new Trek in no time!

At this point, I’ve seen enough and I just want to watch the movie. I probably won’t even watch the third trailer at this point. I’m ready.

I’m going to be there Saturday, hell yeah!

I will be there! I live in SF and was crossing my fingers they would be at wonder con

Ohhhh thats interesting news!

:o)

Woah. Sounds like Leonard Nimoy’s gonna show up.

Damn… I’m gonna be in Frisco next week and I’ll miss the con by 24 hours!
oh well…

Anthony:

Any media coverage that you know about, i.e. G4, etc.?

It should be great. Porthos RIP

Wish I could be there. Even still, I’m looking forward to all the Trek news (and footage) that will come from WonderCon. And it’s just in time for my birthday too. :]

quinto. quinto. quinto.

=h=

AJ
I know of only one media outlet going

Man, I wish I could go to this! I am so excited about the movie. It will be here before we know it!

15:

Who is it? I can’t get out to SF from NYC. I assume you’ll spill the beans when appropriate.

AJ did you read the article. I am going. I am also on a panel

I wanna go to see Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher!

Hmm… right across the Bay from me… Could this be the first time I go to a convention? Oh my….

I don’t know what “Whatchman” is, but I doubt my wife will let me spend another $16 to go and watch a trailer.

“AJ did you read the article. I am going. I am also on a panel”

slurp, slurp, bend down, don’t take it all at one time…..

Darth ” Slurp it up” Ballz

Wow, 4 blocks away from where Ilive…. I wonder if I’ll go?!?! :) WHOO!

Down the street over a few blocks… Heck I am a comic book nerd and I am always going to WonderCon so this is just some fun extra stuff.;)

Bay Area Road Trip, baby! Woo-hoo!

Cue the Shatner!!!!!!!!

26: No.

I will be there….IF my knitting club is not meeting then….

The Black Hole rocks ( as did ’79 ) … just thought I’d bring that up.

Anthony, since Trekmovie is the only media outlet we know of that is covering the event is there any chance you could get us any video to show on the site? Now I’m not talking about any dodgy mobile phone footage of the exclusive clips. I know you wouldn’t post that and I wouldn’t want to see it anyway but it would be nice if we could see some footage with the special guest and some from your own panel as well.

#28 “The Black Hole rocks ”

Agreed. Sure, it has issues…and to this day I don’t understnad the ending….but the Cygnus is one of the best starships ever put on screen. And the movie’s score is top notch. Fun stuff.

A stealthy mountain is a sneak peak.

A sneak *peek* (two Es, like SEE) is an advance LOOK at something.

Just tired of seeing this homonym error all over Teh Intarwebs!

Don’t go spending your money on merchandise for this new movie just yet, it could still be another Phantom Menace !!!!

Remember those Star Wars nutters spending all their hard earned CASH on stuff and it turned out to be a BIG PILE OF SHITE ??!! There was Phantom Menace stuff in bargain bins all over the world……..

Keep your money safe, watch the film – then spend !!!!

Like me…… (“,)

#28 1979 Rocks

What a great year that was. Black Hole, Time After Time and of course Star Trek The Motion Picture. I’d go back in a heartbeat…

Thank you #31. That was bugging the @#$! out of me.

Damn! I can’t get there. I look forward to reading about it though so those of you who can make it, let us know what happpens. But not everything! I don’t want too much to be spoiled.

someone ask about shatner

Darren Dochterman being has me pretty excited.

I always appreciate his insider comments and opinions when he shows up here for a few comments.

But id love to hear his thoughts more in depth on the new movie, and TMP being done in blu-ray, without the redone effects.

Ah, 1979, when genre movies aimed at kids were horrifying… that creepy Black Hole music, Tony Perkins getting gutted by the spinning blades of a killer robot, Vulcans turned inside-out by transporter accidents… the days when innocently going to the cinema built character by scarring you forever (and it didn’t end there- melting Nazis , virgins eaten by baby dragons [Raiders, Dragonslayer, both 1981], and lest we forget the Ceti Eels of 1982).

RE: sneak peak/peek
oops….but in my defense, that is how it is spelled in the wondercon program guide, but I fixed it

37.

TMP on Blu-Ray w/o the redone effects? WHY? The revised version was still a sow’s ear but at least it was completed and somewhat of an improvement!

I do hope that the Blu-Ray version of “Undiscovered Country” includes the superior theatrical version, which has never been released on video, not even on the so-called “special edition”.

Well, this should be fun. I really need to get to a con at some point in my life.

Have a good one, Anthony! It’s gotta be so cool to be THIS close to the action.

I think the mystery guest will be Winona Ryder and she will (ahem) steal the show…

Tadaaaaaaaa….

:-)

I hate to sound like a broken record but,
GREAT NEWS!
I just wish I could go .

Shatner will be at Wondercon. He is in the movie. It’s the big surprise. We’ve all seen it coming. Start twitching geeks.

And I gotta tell ya’, The Black Hole is visually brilliant, but as a movie it’s seriously flawed. The ending being at the forefront (irony) of it’s tremendous flaws. My very first “WTF?” moment as a movie-going kid. And there was sooo much Star Wars derivitiveness (actual word?) that I was constantly removed from the story. As an added insult to TBH, I though the score during the “laser battle” was laugh out loud funny.

There. I think I’ve sufficiently stirred the pot.

41
I am with you .
they dont even show the theatrical version on cable.

Personally I’m glad it’s at Wondercon instead of Comic Con. At least the panel will be marginally easier to get into.

I’ll only have to stand in line 2 hours instead of 5. lol

45. If Shatner is in the film they are not going to reveal it 3 months before the release date.

Oh to be in Sanfran for this. But My hart is not there. it’s In Texas. Damn. Should be there for the Con.Oh well. Ill havt to wait. Maybe Ill just put my self in the agoniser booth. Might be easier then waiting for Trek in May.

47. at WizardWorld a few years I stood in line for 5 hours for what was supposed to be a peek at Batman Begins,
it was just a two and a half minute clip!
AAAAAARGH!
